Welcome to Gemma Skelley Tutoring.
About me.
I am a Primary Teacher with over 15 years’ experience. I have taught across Key Stages One and Two and I am an English specialist. I hold a Bachelors of Education degree, with English honors and graduated from University of Plymouth (Rolle College, Exmouth) in 2006. I live in North Devon with my 12-year-old son and our dog Smudge. I have taught in North Devon, Plymouth and Hertfordshire during my career.
Tutoring.
I offer 1:1 tutoring online for any location (or face-to-face in my local area of South Molton/Barnstaple and outlying villages by arrangement).
I am able to tutor small group of children from the same family or ‘Covid Bubble’ group at this time. Online groups also possible for similar need children by arrangement.
I currently teach full-time so my term-time tutoring hours (listed in opening hours on this page) will be evenings and weekends only until the Summer Holidays.
What can you expect?
Your child will receive 1:1 tutoring tailored to their individual needs from a fully-qualified teacher with extensive and current teaching experience. Did you know that tutoring is a non-regulated industry so not all tutors need to have a teaching qualification?
I will speak with yourselves as Parents/Carers before I begin working with your child to establish a specific skill or subject area you wish me to focus on. I will develop your child’s subject knowledge and learning skills, as well as building their confidence and resilience. As a full-time teacher I am fully aware that many children have missed large chunks of learning due to Covid-19; I am here to help to plug those gaps to enable your child to continue to move forwards in their education.
Online sessions will run using zoom. I will send a personalized link via email. You can install Zoom for free onto a device or you can open it from my link using your online web browser.
