What a special and memorable occasion as we gathered at St Mary and St Gabriel Church for our annual Leavers’ Service.

The service provided an opportunity to reflect on the many wonderful achievements and successes of the past year, while also looking ahead with excitement and optimism to the many opportunities that await our school community in the year ahead.

It was also a chance to say a fond farewell to our fantastic Year 6 children as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey at secondary school. A particularly moving moment saw each child light a candle, symbolising the light, hope and potential they carry with them into the future. We know they will continue to shine brightly wherever their next chapter takes them.

We were also delighted to announce the recipients of the prestigious Ken Jacques Award. Presented annually to two children, this special award recognises not only the positive impact they have made on our school community, but also the significant progress they have achieved themselves. Congratulations to both recipients on this well-deserved honour.

We wish all of our Year 6 leavers every happiness and success as they embark on their new adventures, and we thank them for the contribution they have made to our school family. ⭐🕯️💙

Year 6 School Sleepover! 🌟

What a wonderful evening we have had at our Year 6 Sleepover! From tackling the escape room challenge to spending valuable time with friends, and enjoying the very first film event at the Roundhouse, it has been a truly special night.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils. This is your moment to pause, reflect and celebrate everything you have achieved during your time at Harting. You have grown, learned, persevered and created memories that will stay with you for years to come.
As you prepare for your next adventure at secondary school, know that we couldn't be prouder of each and every one of you. You are ready for this next step, and we can't wait to see all that you achieve in the future.

🌟 Harting Shines in Inspirational SIAMs Inspection! 🌟

We are delighted to be able to share with you the outcome of our recent SIAMs inspection.

The inspector found that Harting Church of England Primary School is "enabling pupils and adults to flourish" and recognised the many things that make our school such a special place. 

We were particularly proud to see our school described as a "happy and vibrant learning environment" where our vision inspires "innovative ideas and thoughtful actions". 
The report highlights the caring ethos that sits at the heart of Harting, noting that:

💚 "Caring relationships are at the bedrock of school life" and that pupils and adults are truly known as individuals.

🎨 The inspector recognised that "creative arts are the hallmark of the school's curriculum", celebrating the many opportunities children have to express themselves, discover their talents and flourish. 

🎶 Music received special praise, with the report describing singing as "joyful and wholesome" and recognising the way it brings pupils and adults together.

🤝 Our values of love and respect were recognised as being "deeply embedded", creating a community where kindness, compassion and responsibility for one another are part of everyday life. 

The report also celebrates our nurturing school culture, noting that kindness "permeates throughout the school" and creates a place where people thrive together. 

This achievement belongs to our entire school community – our wonderful pupils, dedicated staff, governors, families and supporters. Thank you for helping to make Harting such a positive, caring and inspiring place to learn and grow.

🌿🚜 Acorn Class Visit to Lordington Lavender 🐝💜

Acorn Class had a wonderful time at Lordington Lavender last week! The children thoroughly enjoyed a tractor ride around the farm and loved exploring the beautiful lavender fields. 🌾✨

During their visit, they became nature detectives, hunting for grasshoppers and learning all about the important role bees play in helping our environment. 🦗🐝 The children were fascinated to see the bees at work and enjoyed discovering how honey is made.

To top off a fantastic day, everyone had the chance to taste some delicious local honey – a real treat! 🍯😋

🌊🔥 Residential – Day 2 🔥🌊

What an incredible second day we have had at Cobnor Activities Centre Trust

The children have thrown themselves into every challenge, enjoying plenty of time on the water and showing great courage and determination during the high ropes activities. It has been wonderful to see their confidence, teamwork and resilience shine through throughout the day.

This evening, we gathered around the campfire for a very special reflection session, where the children shared their favourite moments from the trip so far. Of course, no campfire would be complete without toasted marshmallows, which were enjoyed by all!

Tomorrow, we round off our adventure with one final water activity as the children take to the water on rafts they have built themselves. We can't wait to see how they get on!

We are so proud of every child. They have been fantastic ambassadors for the school and are making memories that will last a lifetime. 😊🚣‍♀️🌟

🌊⛵ Residential Update ⛵🌊

What a fantastic start to our Oak class residential at Cobnor Activities Centre Trust

The children have had an amazing first day and night, embracing every challenge with enthusiasm, resilience and lots of smiles. Yesterday was filled with exciting activities, including keel boating and paddling, followed by a beautiful sunset walk to round off the day.

We have been so impressed by the teamwork, determination and support the children have shown one another. They have represented the school brilliantly and should be very proud of themselves.

Today promises to be just as exciting, with high ropes, more time on the water and a campfire this evening. Both children and staff are in great spirits and can't wait for the day ahead!

We're looking forward to another day of adventure and making memories to last a lifetime. 😊

Wonderful to have the Petworth Town Band joining our Year 5/6 Brass Band rehearsal last week! 🎺✨

It was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to play alongside other musicians, building confidence and experiencing the joy of live ensemble performance.

A huge thank you to Petworth Town Band for inspiring our young players – we loved every minute!

What an incredible afternoon at the Harting Summer Fair 2026! ☀️🎉

From waterslides and face painting to delicious food and drink, welly wanging, a fantastic coconut shy, and ice creams all round – there was something for everyone. We were treated to brilliant live music from Bluestone Bills, enjoyed cakes, tried our luck at the tombola and raffle, and even had a go at soak the teacher!

A huge thank you to the Friends of Harting School committee and all the amazing volunteers who made it all possible – we couldn’t have done it without you. What a wonderful way to end a very hot week!
