Running into half term! 🏃‍♀️

It’s been a busy week on the cross country course as students in Years 7–10 took part in our annual House Cross Country races during their Games afternoons!

With house points up for grabs, students gave it their all, racing for the finish line and challenging themselves to complete the course.

Well done to everyone who took part, and a big thank you to the staff who helped organise and run the races throughout the week.

And with that, the first half of term is complete! Wishing the whole Blue Coat community a lovely half term break. 💙

One of the highlights of this half term was the RBC Touch Rugby Festival! 🏉

Four RBC teams, featuring boys and girls from Years 7–9, took to the field for a fantastic day of rugby.

Across the festival, 40 fixtures were played between 26 teams, with over 300 students taking part!

A brilliant day of teamwork, sportsmanship and plenty of rugby. Well played to everyone involved! 👏

🦖 Our biggest ever GCSE Geology field trip! 🌍

Our largest cohort of Year 10 GCSE Geologists headed to Dorset for their first fieldwork trip, with 51 students making up the largest school group ever hosted by The Etches Collection!

Our budding geologists travelled back millions of years, exploring the Jurassic Coast’s fascinating history through microscopy, a guided museum tour and even a toilet roll timeline of geological time! 🧻

A particular highlight was meeting ‘Big Sara’, an incredible Allosaurus skeleton, before heading to Kimmeridge Bay for some fossil hunting, where students discovered plenty of ammonites! 🦕

A fantastic way to round off the half term, with our students showing brilliant enthusiasm throughout.

A big thank you to the team at The Etches Collection and all the staff who made this trip possible!

We’re once again collecting beauty products to fill advent calendars to support Berkshire Women's Aid🎄

Each year, our Exams Manager, Mrs Blackwell, collects and refills these calendars kindly donated by the local community and school parents with beauty treats for women in safe houses across Berkshire.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our Blue Coat community, we donated 47 filled calendars, and this year we’re hoping to collect even more! 🎁

We’d be so grateful if you could drop beauty products off to school reception to spread a little Christmas cheer!

Spotlight on Year 7! 🎉

A huge congratulations to Matthew K in Norwood House, our overall winner of this year’s Rosebowl competition! 🏆

Matthew took us into the fantasy world of LARP (Live Action Role Play), sharing his experiences playing as an elf, solving challenges and battling his way through adventures! 🧝‍♂️⚔️

Matthew says: “I love it for the adventures, the fun experiences and the amazing friends I’ve made along the way,”

Our annual Rosebowl competition gives Year 7 students the chance to share something they’re passionate about, and it’s been lovely to see such a wonderful range of interests on display.

Well done to everyone who took part! 👏
