Our netball team has had a very busy time over the past few weeks.
On a lovely sunny evening at the beginning of term, they took to the court against Our Lady of the Wayside. It was a very close fought match, with both teams playing some great netball. Both teams were very competitive, chasing down every loose ball and showing great energy on court. Our defence were on fire with some brilliant interceptions, creating lots of chances for our shooters, but unfortunately we struggled to convert these to goals. Final score 3-6. Special mention to Isla who got oppositions player of the match - thoroughly deserved!
Only 2 days later, the team came up against St Alphege. We started off strong and then continued to grow in to the game, working well as a team to bring the ball down court, communicating and connecting well with each other. After the first quarter we were 2-0 up; the goals kept coming after that! The team listened well to the feedback from the previous match, which really did make all the difference. Amazing shooting from Finlay, Isla, Pearl and Louis all scoring goals tonight. Final score 13-0! Defence were on fire, not letting a single goal in. Another solid performance from Isla (brilliant shooting) earned her another worthy player of the match.
The next opportunity was a netball tournament at Lode Heath School. The team played 3 matches in the group stage. We came up against Solihull school first which we knew would be a tricky match; an unfortunate loss of 1-8. We then played our second match against St George & St Teresa and smashed it winning 6-0. We ended with our third match against Olton and again came away with a win 4-0. Unfortunately it was only the winners of each group who went through to the semi’s/finals which we narrowly missed out on (coming 2nd place in our group to Solihull School). Super proud of the team - Pearl, Aicha, Isla, Florence, Meila, Noah & Finlay and thanks as always to the supporters on the sideline cheering the team on.

On Wednesday, 40 children from KS2 took part in a football festival at Lode Heath against Greswold Primary School. Each team played 3 games in a round robin format. The children had lots of fun and showed great skill throughout!!
Well done to everyone who took part - you were a pleasure to watch.

What a glorious evening to play netball! With our Year 6s out at the Harry Potter studios yesterday, our Year 5s stepped in to play some netball matches at Dorridge. They certainly stepped up and played some great netball - a debut for Isla, Joshua & Tyler. The scores were as follows:
Purple team lost one (4-11) & won one (8-0). Players of the match as chosen by the opposition were Noah & Meila.
Green team drew one (3-3) and lost one (0-4). Players of the match as chosen by the opposition were Joshua and Tyler.
It was lovely to see how their knowledge of the game is progressing - all players adapting and playing in different positions. There was no let up for them with only 10 players (5 in each team) playing 2 matches back to back. Well done to all who played - super proud of you all!

On Wednesday morning, our girls' football team played in the Vertu Cup at the Birmingham City training ground. The girls played 7 matches, and their results were: W4 D1 L2. They finished 4th overall, missing out on top spot by goal difference.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, 20 children took part in the Solihull Dance Festival. The girls' dance was centred around the theme of 'around the world', and they performed to over 200 people! They were amazing and really rose to the occasion.
Finally, 20 children from year 2 took part in a gymnastics festival at Lode Heath. They each had to perform a floor and vault routine and again to an audience of over 150. There were lots of smiley faces and awesome performances. We have just had the results in, and our teams finished 1st and 6th overall.
Well done to everyone this week. You were all amazing and made our school vey PROUD!

Our league netball team had their debut last week in a match against Knowle. Knowle were a very strong side, going all out from the first whistle. We found it hard to get in to the game in the first quarter making lots of errors, but going in to the second quarter we stepped it up with some brilliant defensive work, only allowing Knowle to score 1 goal in the second quarter. The great defensive work continued, but we just couldn’t seem to find our flow through the attack, leading to an unfortunate loss. A big well done to Finlay who made his debut for the team tonight and earned himself player of the match! Thank you to the supporters on the side line too. Onwards and upwards!
