An inspirational trip to Cape Town’s glorious wine lands last February sparked an idea for two local women upon their return home. They determined to create something that they felt couldn’t be found in Solihull, an event experience that would involve great food and drink - yes, obviously - in totally relaxed and refined natural surroundings - of course -but more tailored to the var

iable needs of those present, a personal party of substance that didn’t come pre-packaged by a big chain organisation. Then they discovered the lovely St Catherine's, Catherine-de-Barnes, an old church and village school built in 1879 that had recently been acquired by the villagers themselves. St Catherine’s offers an unmatched outdoor experience, garden areas with surrounding views across the fields, hard floor areas for more robust moments and games… Though, naturally, the variable British weather can never be fully relied upon, so, whilst the ideal al fresco, the lovely large old hall offers a wonderful covered alternative. Equally important as the quality of the environment, is the quality of the produce… All dishes are freshly prepared on the day of the event, with tasty picnic foods that use only the highest quality locally-sourced produce. There are breads from the award winning bakery in Knowle and artisan British cheeses, crisp salads and dreamy puddings served in glass jars, card boxes filled with cold meats and pies – delivered to the table in rustic crates made from reclaimed wood (while the edible produce may be fresh, we love to up-cycle, be it through the handmade and vintage décor, or the classic old games provided for entertainment). Hand-picked wines are chosen for quality and value, while the delicious summer cocktails taste as spectacular as they look! LITTLE PICNIC is a unique, bespoke, truly memorable experience, hours of fun costing no more than the average price of a basic meal out in a local chain restaurant.
