Which books did we share with our children, staff & families during yesterday’s celebration assembly?

✨ The Moonlighters (reminiscent of Oliver Twist, this fantasy adventure is perfect for Y4+)
🏝️ Imagination Island: Race to Rumble Ruin (the 3rd instalment in the series, this is a very fun adventure. For Y3+)
🐢 Wild Magic: Escape of the Sea Turtles (perfect for Y2+ getting into chapter books, this is packed with adorable illustrations & empowers children to protect our wildlife)
🐧 Pablo & Splash: Roman Holiday (a graphic novel series extremely popular in school, our time-travelling penguins are off to Ancient Rome this time)
🌳 Teeny Tiny Science: I See a Tree (an informative non-fiction books teaching younger readers about nature)
🧼 Daddy is Cleaning (a lovely, fun picture book perfect for Father’s Day)

We were also delighted to receive a signed copy of Guardians of the New Moon: The Year of the Ox. Thank you so much for thinking of us Eric Huang 🥳

Congratulations to our Y2 pupils Fianna, Neveah-Jade, Ralphie, Cillian, Darcie, Jaxon, Harry and Aurora who have completed their Peer Listener programme with Mrs Rostron. Mrs Rostron said the following: We are incredibly proud of a group of our Year 2 children who have recently completed our Peer Listener Programme! During this time, they have been learning how to listen carefully, show kindness and support their friends when they need someone to talk to. They have taken part with great enthusiasm and have shown fantastic teamwork, and care for others. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow, and they should all feel very proud of their achievements. They are brilliant examples of pupils who demonstrate our CHESWICK Way values 🌟

What a fantastic afternoon we have had with Mitch Johnson, celebrating the release of his latest book Strike ⚽️ It was the perfect way to kickstart our Men’s World Cup celebrations!
Mitch talked to our Y3-6 pupils about Strike and the inspiration behind it. He taught us to check our labels and see where our clothes are made too then challenged some of our children to a football boots competition. We also learnt lots of fascinating facts about Wembley stadium 🏟️

If you didn’t manage to order a copy of Kick or Strike before Mitch’s visit, we have a small number of signed copies of Strike left as well as plenty of unsigned copies available until Friday. Please get in touch with our office to order a copy 📚
Thanks again Warwick Books for supporting us with books for this brilliant event and thanks Usborne for letting us have Mitch this afternoon.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar story has provided our Nursery children with plenty of creative opportunities recently. The children made some fantastic playdough caterpillars, and the fruit and vegetable kebabs were delicious, which also developed their fine motor skills using a knife. Well done everyone 🐛📖

Which books did we recommend to our children, staff & families during yesterday’s celebration assembly? These books will be available in the library next week.

⛰️ The Children of Wolf Rock (for Y4+, this adventure story explores the Scottish highlands as 3 children try to uncover a mystery)
😱 Demon Hunters: Soul Feeder (a horror novella from the Queen of Horror, this is recommended for Y5+ as 2 children accidentally release a demon)
🐭 Monsieur Mustard: The Disappearance of Fabio Fangtooth (ideal for Y2+, this fun whodunnit is filled with plenty of illustrations too)
🧒 So You Think You’ve Got it Bad? A Kid’s Life in Tudor Times (a interesting & fun look at Tudor life for children - aimed at Y3+)
💭 Hupo and the Wonder Thief (a lovely graphic novel for Y3+ where Hupo sets out to restore dreams and wonder to his home town again)
🐧 Where is Pierre? (a fun picture book for all ages where Bear is looking for his best friend but can’t find him - can your child spot Pierre on each page?)
