We are proud that our Maths curriculum extends beyond the White Rose scheme and incorporates more opportunities for our children to apply their maths understanding in real world situations. Recently, Y5 had to use a budget to plan a party for four people. They talked about different supermarkets and the ‘essentials’ ranges vs branded. They also spoke about how people have different financial circumstances, which led to conversations around free school meals, our school pantry and the new NHS Healthy Start scheme. This all linked back to the brilliant book, The Boy in the Suit, by James Fox.
Well done Y5 for this important cross-curricular work which included Maths, Computing and PSHE!

🌟 Prefects: Kyton, Jake, Dorothy, Rosie, Matilda, Morwenna, Esme, Reggie, Arthur, Brooke, Zac, Grace, Chloe, Annabelle, Daniel, Frankie, Charlie, Avayah & Jack

This year, we have more prefects than previously due to the exceptional letters received so we are widening our prefects’ roles to reflect ways they want to support our school further. We can’t wait to see what our Y6 leaders achieve this year ⭐️

Well done to our Reception pupils, who are into the swing of their daily phonics lessons and are getting off to a flying start with recognising some of their first phonemes. The first sounds they are taught are ‘s’ ‘a’ ‘t’ ‘p’ ‘i’ ‘n’ and we know our Reception parents/carers will be amazed to hear their child blending by Christmas! A reminder that Reception parents/carers are welcome to join Miss Norton’s phonics lesson on Thursday 1st October to see how the children are taught and then Miss Norton will explain about how you can support further at home - we look forward to seeing you there!
Years 1 and 2 are also getting back into their phonics lessons and we have been so impressed by how quickly they are getting back into routines developed from last year. Well done everyone!
