With Christmas comes this cheeky pair -Frankie and Freddie our cheeky Christmas elves are back to have some Christmas fun - today they have stolen some letters from the Merry Christmas banner for the children - let the fun begin 🧝🎄🎅
Christmas has arrived at the nursery - we love the excitement of this time of the year and making it magical for the children 🎄🎅
Lots of wonderful learning through children’s interests is going on at the nursery.
Counting Autumn objects, transitioning into Winter and finding about about the differences, being creative and imaginative through artwork, scooping and digging, filling and emptying - using mathematical language, exploring the farm - the animals, how they live, what they eat and what they look like. Mark making and drawing their own animals. Exploring and finding out about the world around them- celebrating St Andrews day.
So much learning through play which is the best way to learn - so many rich activities and resources to explore 💛🐝💛
Thank you to everyone who attended our book fair yesterday and purchased some of Emily’s beautiful books!
Because of your support, the nursery will be receiving £180 worth of books for the nursery from Emily - thank you so much 💛🐝💛
Today Pre-school have been finding out about Pakistan.
They have explored the flag and the language and have learnt the names of some animals and some numbers in the languages of Pakistan.
They have also made a vegetarian curry for their tea, chopping the vegetables and finding out how to cook the rice.
Todays country that Older Pre-school visited was Germany
Again they made their own tea which was German Lentil soup - they chopped the vegetables and mixed the ingredients together with lentils and water
The children also explored the German flag and learnt some German words ‘Gut gemachte Vorschule’
(Well done pre-school)
In Older pre-school this week the children are exploring different cultures and foods because we bought some books that have dual-languages in them to reflect the children in the setting and the pre-school children have shown a massive interest in the books and asking lots of questions about the languages and the cultures.
Today the children have been looking at France and the French language and they have made their own croissants for tea 🥐
Pre-school have been exploring space this week - creating their own galaxies and planets, finding out about the first man to walk on the moon, exploring light and dark and listening to space facts and stories - they have all been so engaged and have really enjoyed following their interest 💛☄️🪐🧑🚀
Children in Need fun!
Thank you to everyone for taking part and we are so pleased that we have managed to raise
for the Children in Need charity 💛💛💛
Our younger pre-school children have been making their own tea today - they have made ‘Lebanese lentil soup’ they chopped up all of the vegetables themselves - some did struggle when cutting the onion as it made their eyes water.
They added all of their ingredients into the slow cooker and once it is cooked they will blend it and then serve it with bread.
We can’t wait to taste it with our tea 🍲🥣
Lots of interests being followed throughout nursery today. Inspiring and enhancing learning and knowledge 💛🐝💛
Library day today and it was a very windy walk to the library - the wind pushed us all the way there and all the way back! 🌬️
It was time to change the books we had borrowed. We scanned our books back in and placed them on the shelf and then explored the library books to see which ones we wanted to borrow for nursery and then scanned those books so that we could borrow them.
Ellie then read us some stories that required us to interact with such as ‘every bunny is a yoga bunny’ and the children joined in with the yoga moves in the story.
We also had a story about Abigail the giraffe who loves to count and tries to count zebras stripes and cheetahs spots and the children had to help to count all the way up to 20.
Todays planning on the moment came from the children’s intense interest in traffic lights, ‘stop and go’ and transport.
The children role played being cars and being pedestrians and crossing a zebra crossing, watching the traffic lights change and taking control of the traffic barrier - brilliant learning about road safety and working together - well done pre-school 💛🐝💛
Happy Diwali to all of our families celebrating today - May the shimmer of divas and the brightness of the lamps fill yours and your loved ones lives with prosperity and happiness 💛
‘Lest we forget’
The respect these very young children showed as we explored Remembrance Day was amazing - we are so proud of them 💛
We have also been celebrating Diwali. Diwali marks the beginning of the New year in the Hindu religion and is known as the festival of light to honour Rama and Sita who escaped the clutches of Ravana- the demon King. It is a celebration of light over darkness and the children have enjoyed exploring this concept.
This week we have been celebrating two very special celebrations with the children - Remembrance day and Diwali.
It is important to talk about Remembrance Day with the children as we teach them about the significance of history and the importance of cherishing peace - it is an opportunity to educate and inspire, to foster a sense of gratitude, empathy and respect for those who served and continue to serve.
Some of the children walked up to Shirley park to lay a Remembrance wreath that they had made and pay their respects - it was so lovely because as we walked up to the park a veteran saw us with our wreath and saluted as the children walked by - how lovely!
Our Parent breakfast bar is available again this week! Please help yourself and give yourself a boost before you head off for your busy days 💛🐝💛
Today we headed back to the library. The children really enjoyed the story ‘monkey and me’ as it made the children guess what animal they would see next!
Then we shared a story about a goat who ate everything and then became quite sick.
The final story was about a little girl who made a sandwich with everything that her Daddy loved - including her 😱 - a very heartwarming story!
The children enjoyed singing a few nursery rhymes with Ellie too before heading back to nursery.
The children were very chatty on the journey there and back - talking about seeing fireworks, about the leaves falling off the trees and looking at their shadows in the sunshine too 💛🐝💛
Halloween Party fun 🎃👻💀
Lots of fun Halloween activities, bringing learning through play 🎃👻💀
Toddlers had great fun making their own chocolate apples today for Halloween - ready for their Halloween party 🎃💀👻
The library wasn’t on today as it is half term so instead we took all of the pre-school children to the park.
They had a fabulous time, climbing, swinging, sliding and exploring!
They were all so amazing on the walk there and back as well, spotting some Halloween decorations on people’s houses, watching the buses and seeing lots of different dogs - we are so proud of them and glad they enjoyed their adventure to the park 💛🐝
Today we are celebrating ‘Nursery Practitioner Day’ and as a treat for the staff I asked the parents to send in messages for any staff that they feel have gone above and beyond for them. They were each given a little gift of appreciation as well 💛💛💛
I am so proud of the whole staff team as I was inundated with amazing messages about each and every one of them.
I hope they enjoy reading their messages and see how much they are appreciated 💛💛💛
One of our lovely Mum’s sent in cupcakes and chocolates for the staff team too, thank you so much 💛💛💛
Lots of different activities for the children to take part in today - animals is a big interest for toddlers and babies and as the weather starts to change, Autumn is of great interest to the pre-school children 🍁🍂🐄🐎
Nature 🦋🌿🌳🍁🐌🕷️ the children have really enjoyed being outside this week - exploring the garden and spotting things that grow or live outside - from bugs, to butterflies, to trees and their leaves - all of it has brought awe and wonder for the children 💛
We love a change in season - so much for the children to explore and spark their imagination and creativity 🍁🍂🍁🍂
Toddlers and babies have lots of choice to explore today - mark making, painting, role-play, loose parts and their constant love of animal play 🦒🐎🐄 all developing the it imagination, their fine and gross motor skills, their personal and social development and exploring the work around them 💛🐝💛
Pre school have some lovely invitations to play today set up following the children’s interests of sea creatures, animals and counting objects. As well as this they are exploring the changing world around them by offering some Autumnal activities and lots of continuous provision through the role play area and creative areas 💛🐝💛
The children enjoyed a hedgehog story and then created their own hedgehogs using pasta and play dough, developing their creative skills as well as their fine motor skills - what beautiful creations 🦔🦔🦔
Thank you to everyone who wore their slippers to nursery today and donated towards our collection for ‘Age concern’ we raised £19 - every little helps 💛
Lots of lovely autumnal activities available for the children today that incorporate their interests and next steps in learning.
Number recognition and concept, filling and pouring to develop fine motor skills as well as using mathematical concepts such as more and less.
Small world play to develop imaginative skills and encourage playing alongside and with each other.
Mark making to develop mark making skills, add meaning to marks and a love of literacy.
Today we visited the library again - the children enjoyed the walk in the wind and talking about the different coloured cars and buses they could see on the way.
We shared some lovely stories today - our favourite was ‘My alien and me’ which was about a little boy and an alien who were not sure about each other at first but then became the best of friends!
We are also very excited because we took out our very own nursery library card so that we can start borrowing books from the library and share them at nursery together with our friends 💛🐝💛
Today we returned to the library with our new older pre-school children - they were so good and absolutely loved their experience!
Ellie read a few stories to us today ‘We’ve all got bellybuttons’ about differences and similarities, ‘Mr Large in Charge’ which was a long story about Daddy looking after everything whilst Mummy was poorly. ‘I really really love you so’ and ‘No’.
We then sang some nursery rhymes before receiving a sticker and making our way back to nursery 💛🐝💛

If you have a child aged 3 or 4, there are now just 10 days left to apply for your 30 hours code. You need to apply by 31 August to get 30 hours from 1 September.
