🎄Staff appreciation 🎄

We appreciate our staff every single day of the year, but Christmas is a special time to show them our appreciation- thank you for everything you do for the children and their families, the nursery and each other ❤️

Some more wonderful Christmas activities today, encouraging story telling and memory skills, scissor skills, counting, pouring and filling, developing fine motor skills, creative skills, mark-making and writing skills, understanding the world and the nativity story.

📚Today we made our way to the library BUT story time wasn’t on as Ellie was away so we returned our library books and had a read of a few books together before having a walk down to the park.

It was lovely and sunny so we had a little play at the park on the climbing area and slides 🛝 The children enjoyed climbing the large steps and then whizzing down the big slide, some of them had realised that if they lifted their legs they would go faster!

🐐🐑🐄 Christmas Trip to the Farm 🐄🐑🐐

Today we had an absolutely amazing trip to Ash End farm. We enjoyed feeding the animals and learning all about them and singing to them, we dressed up for the Nativity Story and we met Father Christmas!🎅

We enjoyed a lovely picnic in the barn before having a fun play in the outdoor play area!

The children were all superstars 🌟

Frankie and Freddie, our cheeky Christmas elves are back for December from the North Pole ❄️🎄❄️

🩹Paediatric first aid training🩹

Over the last two weeks some of our team at Shirley and some of the staff at Hall Green have got together to complete or update their paediatric first aid training.

We pride ourselves in ensuring that all of our staff team are qualified in paediatric first aid so they know what to do in an emergency and how to keep the children safe.

Thank you so much to Nigel from who always delivers the training in such a good way to keep all learners engaged and he has a vast amount of experience too!

Well done to the staff team for keeping up to date with this vital training 💙💛💙

📖Library📖

We had a very cold and windy walk to and from the library today.

Ellie had a new set of books to share with us today -
* The Bower bird
* The whales on the bus
* Are you a monster?
* Swapsies
We love the interactive books!

We chose some new books to take back to nursery as well.

The walk back to nursery was even windier and the leaves were swirling everywhere 🍂🍃 We had to use our fast walking legs to hurry back to nursery 💛

❄️☃️🌨️ Snow Day🌨️☃️❄️

It wouldn’t be a Snow day without some ‘Snow play’!

The children are loving exploring the snow - watching the snowfall and looking at the snowflakes, making footprints, snow angels, throwing snowballs and trying to build a snowman ⛄️

This is the most wonderful weather for the children to experience and have some fun ❄️

Today some of preschool were exploring the concept of length - they started to put some bricks together to see who could make the longest stick, after seeing whose stick was the biggest, they worked together to try and make a stick as long as Jack!
They didn’t stop there - they then made their stick longer and longer - we decided to see how many children were the size of their stick - they counted 4 children 😊 when asked how many bricks they had altogether they said ‘A thousand and Million’ Great maths exploration preschool 💛

🌼Children in Need🌼
Thank you so much to everyone who donated to our Children in Need pyjama day and cake sale - we raised an amazing £105.96 for the charity 💛💙💛

More children in need fun! Our cake sale is also ready - please come with some pennies later so that we can raise a bit of money for this very worthy cause💙 Thank you to all of the staff for making such a great effort 💛

Today is Children in need and the children will be learning about supporting and thinking about those that are worse off than we are, and how we can help them - we are having a fun pyjama day to raise money for the charity, as well as a cake sale with all proceeds going to Children in Need. We also have lots of fun activities for the children to enjoy 💛💙💛

Today we have been finding out all about Remembrance Day, we watched a video about people celebrating Remembrance Sunday and having a parade, we then made our own poppies and created our own wreath from our handprints. Preschool then took the wreath up to Shirley Park and laid their wreath at the memorial and said ‘Thank you’ for all the soldiers ❤️
