Autumn adventures at JK Childminding 🍂🌳

There’s something so special about slowing down and letting little ones explore the world around them. 🤎

Today we’ve been out exploring our local surroundings — collecting conkers, discovering leaves, feeling different textures, looking closely at nature and enjoying the fresh autumn air. 🍁🌿

The simplest walks can create so many opportunities for learning:
✨ Communication & language
🍂 Understanding the world
🌱 Physical development
🤎 Personal, social & emotional development
🔢 Early maths — counting, sorting & comparing
👀 Curiosity, confidence & independence

Sometimes the best learning happens when little hands are free to explore and little minds are given the time to wonder. 🥰

We went on a little woodland adventure today… 🌳🍂🦊

Our story-themed outdoor adventure brought our favourite characters to life! 📖✨

We searched the woodland for hidden characters, explored the trees and nature around us, and then brought our discoveries back to the garden for a Gruffalo-inspired sensory play invitation.

The children loved finding the characters, naming them, touching and exploring them, and using their imaginations to create their own little woodland stories. 🐭🦊🐍

So many opportunities for communication & language, imagination, sensory exploration, fine motor skills, problem-solving and learning about the natural world — all through play. 🤎

A little bit of magic, a lot of exploring, and plenty of memories made. ✨

Hello, Autumn! 🍂🤎

We’ve been welcoming the new season at JK Childminding with lots of hands-on autumn fun! 🍁

🍂 Leaf printing – exploring colours, textures and patterns while developing those all-important fine motor skills.

🌰 Autumn treasure sensory play – investigating pinecones, acorns and natural materials, encouraging curiosity, language and sensory exploration.

📚 We’ve also been enjoying our autumn stories, including The Leaf Thief — bringing our activities and stories together to make learning meaningful and fun. 🐿️🍂

And of course, after all that exploring… it was time for a lovely home-cooked meal. 🤎

Autumn really is such a beautiful season for learning through play! 🍁✨

☀️ Our first day of the Summer Holidays… and what a wonderful start! 🌿💛

Today we welcomed back some familiar faces, and it has been so lovely seeing old friendships pick up exactly where they left off. 🥹

Our day has been filled with stories in the sunshine, messy nature potions, creative art, bug hunting, sensory exploration and lots of laughter. Every activity encouraged curiosity, imagination and learning through play – just the way childhood should be. 🌼🪲🎨

There’s something so special about watching children explore, create and make memories together. We can’t wait to see what adventures the rest of the summer has in store! ☀️💚

🌿 Every walk through the woods is an opportunity to learn, explore and grow. From listening to birdsong and spotting insects to balancing on logs and collecting natural treasures, nature provides the perfect classroom. 🤎

🐰🤍 Learning through gentle moments.

Today the children had the opportunity to spend time with our friends beautiful rabbit Luna enjoying a calm, hands-on experience that encouraged kindness, patience and respect for animals.

These moments are about so much more than cuddles. Caring for animals helps children to:
🤍 Develop empathy and compassion
🌿 Build confidence through new experiences
🐰 Learn gentle handling and self-control
💬 Strengthen communication and language skills
🌎 Explore the world around them through real-life learning

Today we enjoyed a calm morning exploring alphabet puzzles together. I gently encourage the children to think, explore and solve problems at their own pace.
