Summer assessments need to be booked in over the next couple of weeks to ensure that school have enough time to fill in background information on your child or young person. This is a key part of the diagnostic process.
So, if you are thinking of booking an assessment for over the summer holidays then get in touch soon!

As a qualified Specialist Teacher Assessor, I provide comprehensive dyslexia assessments that help children, parents and schools understand why learning can feel challenging and, more importantly, what can be done to help.
A diagnostic assessment can provide answers, build confidence and open the door to the right support and interventions.

I know it is still technically spring, but I thought it might be helpful to repost this for any parents who may be unsure about committing to a full dyslexia assessment.
I offer a dyslexia screening service for children and young people to help determine whether dyslexia is likely and whether a full diagnostic assessment would be beneficial.
The appointment usually takes around an hour and includes standardised assessment tasks, followed by verbal feedback and practical recommendations.
A screening may be helpful if your child:
• finds reading or spelling unexpectedly difficult
• avoids written tasks
• struggles to retain spellings or sequences
• becomes frustrated or anxious around schoolwork
• seems capable verbally but is not reaching their potential in literacy
If you would like more information, or would like to arrange a phone call to discuss your child’s needs, please feel free to get in touch.

I see this all the time during assessments.
Often children have 'coped' so far by developing strong compensatory strategies - often without realising!
However, as they get older, this often costs more and more mental effort and can lead to fatigue, low self-esteem and anxiety.
Parents often report that their child has high self-esteem in all other areas of their life, but at school they describe themselves as 'stupid'.
Often the exact opposite is true - they are highly intelligent and have managed to just 'do enough' to not set off any alarm bells.
If this sounds like your child/young person then get in touch - it is never too late to receive a dyslexia diagnosis and for the right support to be put in place.
