Last night we hosted Light Hall Schools Christmas Concert and the overall consensus is that it was our best ever yet!
We had Christmas Carols, Christmas Rock, Christmas Classical and even a Christmas singalong at the end 🥳
A very special piece came from Renee S who played the flute beautifully and was this years winner of Light Hall's Got Talent!

We wanted to celebrate the hard work of some of students in English this Christmas!
Brandon C 10H1- fantastic work and effort this term!
Courtney C 11H5- incredibly hard work in a difficult mock exam time!
Lucas A 11H5- constantly trying their best.
Brian Yat C 10L1- amazing English work.
Olivia L 11L4- great resilience and effort.
Ruby LS in Y8 - always enthusiastic in class, keen to contribute, asking questions to improve and producing excellent work.
Miss Welsh would like to thank the whole of 11L5– they have been working so well on their practice essay writing and I have been really impressed with their thesis writing.
Below are pictures of Ruby LS work and Aimee B work.
Reminder:
Friday is non-uniform and school closes at 12.30pm for the Christmas break

The MFL Christmas Poster competition closed on Monday and we were overwhelmed with the amount of entries! 🇦🇩🇧🇯🇧🇪🇧🇩🇧🇴🇧🇪🇨🇦🇧🇮🇧🇴🇧🇶🇩🇰🇬🇭
A selection of them have been put on display in the schools reception area are the top 3 entries were by;
1st Josh H year 8
2nd Corey T year 9
3rd Ben T year 7

Here are some examples of year 7 homework from Chloe H. It has been wonderful to see students perform independent research outside of the classroom and to gather these creatively in the form of posters and coloured notes!

Etymologically, Great Britain means “great land of the tattooed” and the oldest English word that we still use is ‘town’. Here is some lovely research work by Chloe L year 7, she was fact finding about a Jackie Kay.

Condolences to the families of the 3 boys who have sadly lost their lives. Saying our prayers for the little boy to pull through who is critical.

The Battle of the Houses castle competition has closed!
The task was to design a motte and bailey castle and the winners are . . . . . . .
Best castle - Abbie T Atlantis
Most accurate - Isaac D & Josh D Endeavour
Most creative - Nasr H Endeavour
Well done all who entered, they were all fantastic! 🙋♂️

Miss Barrett’s WOW words that Year 7 have been learning this term through looking at themes of post colonialism, alternative cultures and contemporary literature.

Mr Hackett has been trying to encourage our year 7 students to sing more, not only does it build confidence but it is fun!
Some of his 7L1 group performed a song last week that was filmed and shown in our annual Prize Giving evening on Thursday.
We are so proud of this, that the video is too good not to share!

Thank you to all of the students who took part in our recent Origami Enterprise house event. The entries were all amazing but there could only be one winner. . . . Atlantis' Connor C took 1st place and you can see why!

Yesterday we told you about our receptionist taking over the role of Administrator to our SLT and Inclusion team. Well that vacancy arose because current post holder Miss Regan, has also been promoted to Exams Officer! She is busy learning the ropes from, soon to retire, Mr Hemming whilst the Year 11 students are taking their mocks.

Today year 10 enjoyed a visit from Sergeant Andy Chambers who is in the RAF. He delivered a session on careers within the RAF to the whole year group and a personal development session to year 10 students who have expressed an interest in careers in the armed forces.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Solihull Fire Station for removing a ring from one of our staff members very swollen fingers this morning. They were amazing -thank you!
🚒

Our last 2 receptionists have been so good 😊 that they have had internal promotions within their first year of joining the Light Hall family. This time it’s the turn of Miss Grady who from January will be our Administrator to our SLT and Inclusion team.
That does mean we will be advertising for a new receptionist in the coming days 📞
