What a fantastic start the children have made to the Autumn term! It has been so lovely to see how well everyone has settled into their new rooms and how confidently they are beginning to explore their new environments, routines and experiences.

Also to all of our new children who have settled so quickly. Starting nursery is such a big step, and it has been wonderful to see little friendships forming, smiles appearing and children becoming more comfortable and confident each day.

Our children have been busy getting to know their new key people, exploring new resources and making the most of all the exciting learning opportunities their new rooms have to offer.

Through play, exploration and relationships, they are developing their confidence, independence and sense of belonging. ❤️

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them and can’t wait to see all the wonderful learning, friendships and adventures that this new chapter brings! ✨

What a beautiful day celebrating our wonderful Owls and everything they have achieved🎓🤍

A day full of laughter, happy tears, proud moments and so many memories that we’ll treasure 🪎

Behind every confident little face standing up there today is this team of people who have loved, supported, encouraged and believed in them every step of the way 💪🏻

Today was a reminder of just how special Smallville is and how lucky we are to be part of these little lives, even if only for a short while 😢

To our Owls… we are so, so proud of you 🦉

To our wonderful parents… thank you for trusting us with your most precious little people. It is such a privilege to be invited into those first years of their lives, to watch them grow, learn, find their confidence and become the amazing little people they are today 🥰 Thank you for allowing us to be part of so many special moments and for trusting us to care for your children. We never take that trust for granted❤️

And to our amazing team… thank you for everything you do, every single day🫶🏻

This is why we do what we do! 🥺

They often say it takes a village to raise a child. We don’t take for granted that, for a little while, we’re invited to be part of that village.

Thank you for trusting us with your most precious people.

Messages like this remind us why every cuddle, every story, every muddy adventure and every goodbye matters more than words can say 🥰

As we wave goodbye to one chapter, we begin another. Whilst our preschoolers spread their wings and begin their next adventure, we’ll be here ready to welcome new little hands, new curious minds and new families into Smallville 🤍

⭐ A Full-Time Level 3 Early Years Practitioner
⭐ Bank Staff – perfect if you're looking for flexible hours to fit around your lifestyle!

The ideal candidate must:

🧸 Be comfortable announcing to everyone that you need the toilet... because apparently it's only fair

😂 Laugh at jokes that make absolutely no sense... and somehow still pretend they're funny

👕 Be unfazed by mysterious wet patches on your T-shirt (it's probably water... probably)

🎵 Know that singing "Baby Shark" for the 87th time today is just part of the job

🍎 Be prepared to accept pretend cups of tea, invisible birthday cake and suspicious-looking playdough pizza with genuine enthusiasm

🦖 Be able to identify dinosaurs, construction vehicles and Disney characters with expert-level confidence

💬 Answer the question "Why?" at least 437 times before lunch

🏃 Have the stamina to chase bubbles, join in dance parties and somehow still have energy left for story time

✨ Celebrate the biggest achievements... whether it's learning to zip up a coat, writing a name for the first time, or successfully sharing a toy

💚 Most importantly, have a big heart, a positive attitude, and a passion for helping little people learn, grow and thrive

✨ Some news so special that I just had to share it with everybody ✨

There are some moments as a nursery manager that make me stop and feel incredibly proud to realise what a team we have here at Smallville, and it doesn’t go amiss that I’m so proud of every single one of our team, but this news blew my mind today!

We are over the moon to announce that Kay, our wonderful Deputy Manager and Owl Room Leader, and Lily, our incredible Squirrel Room Leader, have both been shortlisted for ‘Nursery Educator of the Year’ at the Nursery World Awards 2026!!!!🌟🏆

To make this achievement even more remarkable, there are only FOUR finalists in the whole country… and two of them are from Smallville 🥺🙌🏻

If you’ve met our Kay or Lily, you’ll know that this recognition couldn’t be more deserved. They don’t just care for children - they build relationships, inspire confidence, wipe away tears, celebrate milestones, share laughter, encourage curiosity and bring joy to everybody they meet. They make every child feel seen, valued and loved.

As a team, we have the privilege of witnessing the dedication, kindness and passion they pour into their work every single day. They give so much of themselves to the children and families in our care, often without expecting anything in return. Seeing that commitment recognised on a national level is incredibly emotional for all!! (I did shed a little tear of pride in front of the computer this morning🥲)

To our wonderful families, thank you for trusting us with your little people. We know that awards don’t define an educator, but it’s a truly special moment to see two people who make such a difference every day receive this recognition.

Kay and Lily, I couldn’t be prouder of you both! Thank you for everything you both do ✨
