🎵✨ Year 2 Music Focus Day: Peer Gynt ✨🎵

What an incredible day of musical discovery! 🎶 Our Year 2 pupils explored the exciting musical story of Peer Gynt, learning how composers use tempo, pitch, rhythm and dynamics to bring adventures to life. From performing rhythms and keeping a steady beat to creating beautiful artwork inspired by the music, pupils showed fantastic creativity, enthusiasm and musical talent. 🎨🥁🎼

We’re a Microsoft Elevate Showcase School again! 💻

Shireland Technology Primary has been recognised as a Microsoft Elevate Showcase School for 2026-27, following another year of using technology to give our pupils new ways to learn, create and explore.

From programming robots and creating digital animations to stepping into our immersive room and exploring the past, technology is part of everyday learning at STP. But it’s never technology for technology’s sake. We use it when to pupils understand more, experience something different or show what they know in a new way.

That balance matters. Time away from screens, practical learning, discussion and working together are all an important part of school life too.

This recognition also reflects the work our staff have put into developing their own expertise, with colleagues gaining Microsoft Educator Expert and Certified Expert accreditations and sharing their practice with others.

We’re really proud to be part of the Microsoft Elevate Showcase Schools community for another year and of everything our pupils and staff continue to achieve.

☕💚 What a wonderful Friday at STP!

We loved welcoming so many of our families for our Macmillan Coffee Morning and Family Forum. It was fantastic to see such a great turnout and have so many families joining us, catching up, sharing ideas and being part of our school community.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the morning such a special one. 💚

We’re pleased to share that our Academy has achieved the Inclusive Attendance Bronze Award, recognising the progress made during the first year of the Trust-wide Inclusive Attendance programme.

The award recognises the work taking place across our school community to strengthen attendance practice, understand the reasons behind absence and identify barriers earlier so that pupils and families can receive the right support.

As part of the programme, Academy leaders and attendance teams have been developing a shared understanding of attendance and looking at how everyone across the school community can play a role in supporting positive attendance.

The work was celebrated at the Trust’s Inclusive Attendance Conference at the new Shireland Training Centre in Oldbury. Colleagues came together to review national attendance data, consider emerging trends and reflect on the next steps in developing their practice.

Regular attendance gives children and young people access to learning, relationships and the wider experiences of school life. The Bronze Award recognises the foundations we have established, and we’ll continue to build on this work as we progress towards the Silver Award.

🏆 Award-winning learning!

We’re excited to share that Shireland Technology Primary has been awarded the HSBC Smart Money Award in recognition of our commitment to developing pupils’ financial literacy and helping them build essential life skills for the future.

During our Financial Literacy Week, pupils took part in interactive workshops with HSBC UK, exploring topics including saving, budgeting, where money comes from and making informed financial decisions. The week ended with a whole-school assembly focused on using debit cards responsibly, helping pupils develop a greater understanding of everyday money management.

We’re incredibly proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm and engagement, and grateful to HSBC UK for supporting this valuable learning experience.
