Fairly recent pictures of the demise of our beloved school, really sad that another part of our history has been removed. These pics were taken by somebody else whose name escapes me right now, but he was kind enough to allow me to use them.

Haymill County Secondary School 2013 (Last Known as Haybrook College)
Thought I'd take some images for posterity due to the imminent demolition. The Ceramics, Physics, Chemistry, & Cookery rooms have gone, along with all the annexes, its a shame really. The building is in a poor state, neglected like all properties that they want alternative planning permission for.

Haymill County Secondary School opened in 1953 and closed in 1982. (‘The Changing Face of Slough’, pp.104-5, publ. Breedon Books with Slough Museum 2003, ISBN 1859833152).

Its opening was part of a major reorganisation of local schools proposed in 1950. 1500 children were involved in the changeover which eventually took place in the summer of 1953, reported in the Slough, Eton & Windsor Observer. (‘1500 change schools – new buildings ready’ SE&WO p.3 17.7.1953).

Haymill centre to be demolished
Plans to revamp Haybrook College and demolish the Haymill centre have been given the go ahead.

Slough Borough Council's cabinet agreed to the proposals for the future of the Haymill site at a meeting last night.

The college, which operates a special school, Millside, and a pupil referral unit, will be provided with new permanent or modular buildings on the northern half of the site.

This will replace existing accommodation used within the Haymill building and Springboard annex.

Some of the new facilities will also be made available for community use.

Demolition of the redundant Springboard and Haymill buildings will then take place as soon as possible.

Why on earth is there no information about Haymill School on the web....just emailed the council for some official dates as to when it was opened/closed, as far as I can work out from snippets on the web it opened about 1957, and closed in 1982. Anyone got ideas?
