🥋 SUNDAY COMMUNITY QUESTION – Karate Memories
Karate isn’t just about training — it’s about the moments that stick with you.

What’s your favourite memory from training so far?
It could be your first grading, a technique you finally mastered, a fun class, or even a moment that made you laugh.

Share your story below — we love hearing everyone’s journey.

🥋 SATURDAY CHALLENGE – Balance & Control Test
Today’s challenge is all about stability and focus — two skills that make every technique stronger.

⚡ Your Challenge:
Hold a front kick (mae‑geri) chamber for 20 seconds without wobbling.
Then switch legs and try again.

Focus on:

Tight core

Strong stance

Eyes forward

Controlled breathing

Post a photo or quick video in the comments — let’s see who can stay steady under pressure.

🥋 FRIDAY INSTRUCTOR INSIGHT – The Art of Patience
One of the most underrated skills in Karate is patience.
Not the kind where you sit still — the kind where you stay calm, focused, and committed even when a technique feels challenging.

🔍 Instructor Insight:
Progress often shows up quietly.
The stance that feels shaky today becomes solid next month.
The kata that feels confusing now becomes smooth with repetition.
The confidence you’re building grows every time you choose to keep trying.

Patience isn’t slow — it’s powerful.
It’s what turns effort into mastery.

🥋 THURSDAY TRIVIA
Which part of your punch creates the most power?

A) Your shoulder
B) Your hips
C) Your fist
D) Your stance

Drop your answer in the comments — let’s see who knows their Karate mechanics.

🥋 WEDNESDAY KARATE TIP – Sharpen Your Blocks
Most students focus on punches and kicks… but your blocks are just as important.
A strong block doesn’t just protect you — it sets up your next technique.

🔍 Tip of the Week:
When practising blocks, make sure you:

Keep your elbows tight

Rotate your hips slightly for power

Finish each block on the centreline

Snap the technique, don’t push it

Clean, sharp blocks make your whole Karate feel stronger and more controlled.

05/10/2026

🥋 MONDAY MOTIVATION – Start Strong

A new week means a new chance to grow.
In Karate, progress doesn’t come from big leaps — it comes from the small improvements you make every time you train.

🔍 This Week’s Focus:
Pick one technique you want to improve — a stance, a block, a kick, or a kata sequence — and commit to sharpening it every class.
Small focus. Big results.

04/10/2026

🥋 SUNDAY COMMUNITY QUESTION – Favourite Move Edition

Everyone has that one Karate move they love practising — the one that feels powerful, smooth, or just plain fun.

What’s your favourite technique to practise in class?
Punches, kicks, blocks, stances… tell us your go‑to move.

03/10/2026

🥋SATURDAY CHALLENGE – Speed & Focus Drill

Today’s challenge is all about sharpening your reactions and boosting your confidence.

⚡ Your Challenge:
Set a 30‑second timer and perform as many straight punches (oi‑zuki) as you can with perfect form.
Focus on:

Strong stance

Clean technique

Snappy speed

Eyes forward

Post your number in the comments — let’s see who can stay fast and controlled.

02/10/2026

🥋 FRIDAY INSTRUCTOR INSIGHT – The Value of Consistency

One of the biggest lessons we teach in Karate is that progress doesn’t come from perfection — it comes from consistency.

Turning up each week, giving your best effort, and staying committed even when things feel challenging… that’s what builds real skill, real confidence, and real strength.

🔍 Instructor Insight:
Small improvements add up.
Every stance you refine, every kata you repeat, every correction you apply — they all move you forward more than you realise.

Keep showing up. Keep putting in the work. Your future self will thank you.

01/10/2026

🥋THURSDAY TRIVIA – Karate Knowledge Check

Which part of your training improves your balance the most?

A) Kicking drills
B) Stance training
C) Core conditioning
D) Flexibility work

Drop your answer in the comments — let’s see who gets it right.

In mid-June, several of our Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian senior group volunteered to complete a Homes set-up with our charity partner, RizeUp Australia.

RizeUp provides all the practical items needed for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence to make a fresh start, including furniture and other household items that help transform empty houses into homes.

When each of our GKR teams arrived at their location, they were greeted by a RizeUp driver, an empty house and a truck filled with flatpacks and homewares. The teams set about unloading the truck, assembling the flatpacks, making beds, filling pantries and carefully decorating the space. This included fitting out children’s bedrooms and providing them with the materials needed to start at a new school.

After 4+ hours of work at each location, the transformation from house to home left a lasting memory for all involved. With the knowledge that a family would be entering their newly furnished home in the coming days, each team member took comfort in knowing that they had helped create a new beginning for someone in need.

We are incredibly grateful to RizeUp for the work they do and for the opportunity to be involved in their Homes program. We also appreciate the amazing support shown by all of our students and instructors who participate in the Stop Domestic & Family Violence Purple Belt Campaign. Your involvement means a lot, not only to RizeUp and the families they help, but also to GKR Karate as a whole.

If you would like to volunteer with RizeUp to help setting up Homes, information can be found here https://www.rizeup.com.au/volunteer
