JKA certified instructors are a special breed and they are becoming extinct, the few that are left are very valuable, knowledgeable and experienced. Over time due to continuous study and practice of karate-do each of these instructors have their favorite Kihon and Kumite techniques and Katas.
One of these JKA certified instructor is 78years old Kasuya Sensei, the chief instructor of The World Shotokan Karate-Do Federation which was formed in 1990.
Kasuya Sensei in his time in the JKA was a team member of the kata team along side Yahara and Osaka Sensei, he was also in the JKA Kumite team and the Japanese national team wining numerous trophies and titles.
Kasuya Sensei is well known for his continuous and scientific study of karate-do, and willingness to pass on that knowledge to his students, covering and emphasized some of the following "lost time while performing techniques, " "continuing karate training in your advancing age", "preventions of injury" "ways of strengthen the core area of the body"
"Budo spirit - in the dojo and out of the dojo" "always Listen, Watch and Understand then Do " “Be smart with your training, know you age and limitations then do your best”
Kasuya Sensei is a gentleman and approachable in and out of the dojo however he is a stickler for discipline and respect. He leads by example and appreciates the effort of his students or class. He travels the world teaching as it excites him and gives him great satisfaction in seeing the development in his WSKF dojos and non WSKF student understanding his teaching and knowledge.

Hitoshi Kasuya Sensei will be visiting England and Ireland ( Dublin) September 2026 conducting an “Open Seminar” to all shotokan groups

We were delighted to be joined by Julian Sensei of Axis Shotokan Karate Club and Idris Sensei, Head of WSKF Egypt for a morning of training and shared practice.
