🌊Fieldwork in action🌍!

Our A-Level Geography students recently headed to Medmerry on the South East coast to complete fieldwork in preparation for their NEA projects.

They spent the day collecting data around the beach area to investigate the effectiveness of coastal management, building the practical skills and knowledge needed for their investigations.

🧁 Bakers, ready... set... bake!

Students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 put their baking talents to the test by creating their own muffin recipes from scratch in our 'Muffin Madness' inter-house competition!

From delicious flavour combinations to eye-catching decorations, our judges were incredibly impressed by the originality, effort and high standard of baking on display.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and helped make the event such a memorable one, you all proved to be the upper crust of student bakers! 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳

PGL Day 3 🏹

To round off an incredible trip, our Year 7 students took on their final activities: archery and wall climbing... with many surprising themselves with just how brave and determined they truly are💪!

Throughout the weekend, every student gave their all, stepped outside their comfort zone, and embraced every challenge and opportunity. It has been fantastic to see their confidence and enthusiasm grow over the course of the trip.

PGL Day 2 was another action-packed day for our Year 7's...

After an early start, students put their teamwork skills to the test during a raft building activity🚣‍♂️. Working in groups, they had to build a raft strong enough to stay afloat on the lake with all of their team on it... of course, the activity quickly turned into an all-out splash battle with almost everyone ending up in the water 🌊!

The adventure continued with laser tag in the woods, and then the giant swing where many students conquered their fear of heights... including Mr Aminu, who bravely took on the swing after some very persistent encouragement from the pupils 👏😂.

Their final activities for the day focused on learning important survival skills through building tents and practising fire-making ⛺.

⛺️What a weekend! We ran our very first Year 7 PGL trip to Marchants Hill in Surrey, and our 80 attending students were an absolute credit to themselves and The Westgate School 👏.

Day 1 was packed with adventure - from meeting our brilliant group leaders and joining in with all their camp songs🎤, to taking on rifle shooting 🎯 and zip-lining (with some students wanting 10 more turns!)

The day ended in style as students got dressed up for an unforgettable silent disco full of singing, dancing and some very enthusiastic renditions of Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ 🎶🪩!

🇪🇸 Bringing Spain to the classroom!

Our students took part in an engaging cultural workshop all about Andalusia, led by a travel representative from Spain.

From exploring iconic landmarks like Seville Cathedral, the Alhambra, and the Mezquita of Córdoba, to discovering vibrant festivals, delicious food, and everyday lifestyle, this experience has helped bring language learning to life.

Who knows… maybe it’s inspired some future travellers or global careers ✈️!

We were delighted to welcome dancer Adam Galbraith from the New Adventures dance company into school to share his journey, challenges, and advice for building a career in the industry 💬.

Our Dance students gained a fantastic insight into the professional dance world, leading a Q&A with Adam and linking it to their current studies of 'Romeo and Juliet'... exploring performance, storytelling, and the creative process behind bringing the production to life from Tybalt himself!

Earth Day 2026 reminds us that real change comes from everyday actions... not just big decisions, we all play a part in protecting our planet.

How everyone can get involved - Join a cleanup🗑️, plant a tree🌳, start a garden🌻, volunteer🤝, or simply spend time outdoors and reconnect with nature🚶!

Not every action has to be physical, learning matters too... encourage your children to visit our school library’s 'Earth Day' display for inspiring reads and new ideas.
