A question I get asked all the time is, "What made you want to become a personal trainer and online coach?"
Believe it or not, I was the girl who forged sick notes to get out of PE. I lacked confidence, felt embarrassed by my level of fitness, and saw the gym as an intimidating place where I simply didn't belong.
I've not always loved fitness, and honestly, I think that's exactly why I connect so well with so many of my past and present clients. I know what it's like to feel overwhelmed, to compare yourself to everyone else, and to think fitness just isn't for you.
It wasn't until COVID that I started taking my own health and fitness more seriously. At first, I noticed changes physically, but what really surprised me was how much it transformed my mindset.
That's when everything changed.
I stopped seeing fitness as something you do to change the way you look, and started seeing it as something that improves the way you live. It gave me confidence, routine, resilience, and a completely different relationship with my body. That's when I decided to gain my qualifications and turn my passion into a career—and I've never looked back.
Becoming a PT has been one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Of course, helping someone lose weight or hit a personal best is amazing. But what truly makes this job so rewarding is watching someone become more confident, step outside their comfort zone, believe in themselves again, and realise they're capable of so much more than they ever imagined.
For me, that's what fitness is really about.
So wherever you are in your journey, whether you're just starting or you've been going for years, take a moment to be proud of how far you've come.
And if you've been sitting on the fence about coaching, maybe this is your sign. I'd love to help you change the way you see fitness too.
