Since 2015 he has taught people of all ages and abilities in Classical, Acoustic and Electric Guitar. His style of teaching is friendly, relaxed and personal, with the belief that the lessons should be a positive addition to the students week rather than an additional pressure.

Matthew currently offers 1-1 private guitar lessons for people of all ages. Matthew has a wealth of teaching experience through work with local schools and Music Services. His qualifications include a Diploma in Classical Guitar from London College of Music, a First Class degree in Music Production from Leeds College of Music and Grade 5 Theory from ABRSM. He has entered students for exams using the Trinity, RGT and RockSchool Boards. He has experience playing in bands at popular venues, weddings and commercial events. Matthew also has experience in Music Production, Interactive & Immersive Audio and Game/VR Development, with certification in Logic Pro X and Wwise. Young people’s wellbeing:
Through my teaching I aim to have students leave lessons in a better mood than when they started. I feel young people have enough pressure with school work and exams. My goal is for learning an instrument to be a tool to alleviate stress or anxiety rather than compound it. As part of this commitment, I do not treat students negatively if they have not practised and rather focus on creating a teaching environment where the student is more motivated to learn, through the choice of pieces or style of learning.
