Here are some of our KS1 children enjoying time playing with friends!

At Cobbs Brow, we believe that play is not a break from learning; it is a powerful vehicle for learning. In KS1, play supports language development, social skills, self-regulation and a deeper understanding of new concepts.

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿƒ Forest School Adventures in EYFS! ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒฟ

There is something truly magical about learning outdoors! Our EYFS Reception children have been embracing all that Forest School has to offer, exploring, creating, and developing important skills through play in nature.

From carefully climbing trees and balancing on logs to mixing the perfect mud pies in our outdoor kitchen, every activity provides opportunities for learning and growth. Tree climbing helps children build confidence, resilience, coordination, and risk-assessment skills, while exploring the natural environment encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Whether they are hunting for minibeasts, collecting natural treasures, building dens, or getting wonderfully muddy, our children are developing creativity, independence, communication skills, and a love of the outdoors.

At Forest School, every stick becomes a tool, every puddle an adventure, and every day an opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences. We are so proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork, and imagination our young explorers show each week.

๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š Learning, discovering, creating, and growingโ€”one muddy adventure at a time! ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒณ

๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฅ• Cobbs Brow School Garden Project ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŒฝ

Before we broke up for half term, children from Years 1 to 6 took part in an exciting week-long gardening project, transforming our growing areas into thriving spaces full of fruit and vegetables!

We were delighted to welcome volunteers from Netafim, a local company who provide irrigation systems to farmers all over the world, who, in previous years, have generously donated a polytunnel and weather system to the school and spent the week working alongside our children. Together, they planted a variety of fruits and vegetables, learnt about how food is grown, and explored the journey from seed to plate through fun quizzes and interactive games.

As part of the project, pupils also calculated how much water each plant would need, helping them to understand the importance of water conservation and how this links to our environmental curriculum and sustainability goals.

A huge โœจthank youโœจ also goes to our friends at Midstream Garden Centre for kindly supplying all of the plants used throughout the project and building special frames to keep out the pesky rabbits who love to munch on our plants. Their support has helped bring our garden to life!

The children also showed great creativity by designing and making their own plant markers, helping to identify all the different fruits and vegetables now growing in our garden.

Now comes the exciting part - watching everything grow! ๐Ÿ‘€๐ŸŒฑ Weโ€™ll be keeping a close eye out for strawberries, tomatoes, and many more delicious fruits and vegetables over the coming weeks.

We can't wait to share more updates as our garden flourishes! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฅฌ
