My Money Week is in full swing in St John’s. All children across the school are engaging in real life money lessons which is such an important life skill.
Handling money, understanding value and the cost of living and even looking a business costs and planning are all part of our maths and Unifrog lessons this week. Something which can continue to be practised and discussed at home.

Year 2 had a wonderful trip to Crosby Beach, where they explored both physical and human geography features. The children carefully identified natural elements such as the sandy shore, sea, and tides, as well as human features like pathways and sea defences. They enjoyed sketching what they observed, including the famous Antony Gormley “Another Place” statues, which stood quietly along the beach. The children behaved exceptionally well throughout the visit, showing curiosity, creativity, and respect for the environment, making it a very successful and enjoyable trip.

🌊 This week is 🌊
This could be a life-saving conversation to have with your child...📣
If you get into trouble in the water, remember:
Float to Live 💙
If you fall in or become tired, stay calm, float on your back, and call for help. If someone else is in trouble, throw them something that floats.
How to float:
• Tilt your head back to keep your airway clear
• Keep your ears submerged in the water
• Relax and focus on your breathing
• Spread your arms and legs to stay balanced
• Gently move your hands and feet if needed

Our budding Year 6 scientists have been diving into science; starting off with evolution and inheritance and the work of Charles Darwin. They’ve discovered how animals and plants adapt over time and how characteristics are passed from one generation to the next.
In physics, they’ve been investigating light and how it travels, as well as observing how shadows change throughout the day—developing their scientific enquiry skills through hands-on experiments.
We are so proud of their curiosity, thoughtful questioning, and growing confidence as young scientists! 💙
St. John’s musical superstars 🎵⭐️
A big thank you to the Engine Rooms in Old Skem for giving our children the opportunity to embrace science and music.
