CPCS competency “Grandfather Rights‘ also known as Industry Accreditation (IA), are being phased out and will expire on December 31st 2024.

This means that any CPCS cards issued through IA will no longer be valid after this date.

If you have a CPCS card that was issued under IA, you may need to complete an NOCN CPCS Competence Interview to keep it.

Once you've completed the interview, NOCN will update your card to its original expiry date.

Cardholders who obtained their blue cards must take action to comply with the new standards by 31st December 2024.

Competence Interview Requirement:
If you do not have a relevant NVQ, you will need to complete a Competence Interview by 31st December.

Maintaining Compliance:
Those who have already achieved a relevant an NVQ in Plant Operations will not need to take further action. CPCS will issue a full 5-year Competent Operator Card when an application for renewal has been sent to CPCS.
