Today year 2 have been developing their typing and word processing skills, looking at using bold, italics and underlining, as well as changing font size and colour!

Thank you to everyone who came to our Reception open evening for children starting in September 2027. We had some school dinner samples for tasters, and we noticed lots of children and adults enjoying our reception and year 1 classrooms as well as the library! Hopefully we will see you all again in September!

Our school is developing our outdoor play provision through OPAL and we are looking for donations of loose parts and resources to enrich children's imaginative, creative and active play and lunchtime. Please can any donations be dropped off to the school office. If you are able to donate any larger items, please let a member of the staff team know so we can arrange an appropriate drop off time.

Please note that for health and safety reasons, all donations should be clean, in good condition and free from sharp edges, rust, or damage. We also ask that no glass/ceramic items are donated.

What an incredible beginning our new Reception children have had. From the moment they stepped through the door, they have shown such joy, curiosity and courage as they begin their school journey.

In just these first days, they have truly embraced their new learning environment. We have watched them paint with focus, build with imagination, dance with delight, role‑play with confidence, investigate with curiosity and, most importantly, begin forming those precious first friendships. They have settled into new routines so beautifully, showing resilience, independence and a real eagerness to learn.

As part of our topic, Our Place in the World, we spent time getting to know one another. During circle time, the children used their speaking skills to proudly introduce themselves while their new friends waved back with big smiles. Afterwards, they became artists — studying their reflections closely and creating thoughtful self‑portraits that captured their unique features and personalities.

We have also been introduced to our Beacon Primary Academy Value Pals: Bertie the Brilliant Bear, Pavarotti the Proud Peacock, and Azima the Ambitious Alpaca. Each one represents a Beacon value, and the children have already begun exploring how they can show brilliance, pride and ambition throughout their school day. Our Value Pals have been busy spotting children showing these values and each Friday, they even get to go home with someone who has worked especially hard to shine.

We have worked together to set our class rules — thinking carefully about how we can keep ourselves safe, be kind friends and always try our best. We mixed all of our ideas into a magical class potion, stirring in our promises to follow them every day. It was a beautiful moment of teamwork, responsibility and shared understanding.

We are so incredibly proud of how well each child has settled, how bravely they have embraced new experiences, and how quickly they have begun to flourish. Their hearts, minds and imaginations are already growing — and we cannot wait to see all the wonderful things they will achieve this year. 💜

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our school summer fair. It was amazing to see you all, and we raised a massive £1350 for our school, which will go towards lots of lovely things for the children.
This money raised supports:
Making trips more affordable
Buying playground equipment
Enrichment experiences for the children
Rewards and prizes.

We also want to thank the amazing PTA who helped organise and run the fair, and the school staff who stayed after school to run stalls and provide some excellent trumpet accompaniment!

We also have some unclaimed raffle tickets- if you are a lucky winner please come and see Miss Heard before Friday 10th July to claim your prizes!

Non-Uniform Day Friday 19th June 2026

Help us to get ready for our summer fair by coming to school in non uniform next Friday, and bring a beach themed donation!

We would like donations such as:
☀️Beach toys
🐚 Outdoor toys
🌊 Picnic accessories like plastic plates, cups and cutlery
🏖️ Sun hats, sun cream, parasols
🕶️Something that would make a day in the sun more fun!

Thank you for your continued support! Money raised from the summer fair will go towards supporting children in school, including purchasing new play equipment and resources and helping fund school trips and other activities and experiences.
