We’ve enjoyed lots of fun activities based around transport, and the children have especially been getting stuck into all of the messy play. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity and excitement shine through while they learn and explore together. 🚗🚂🫟

This past term has flown by so fast we have not had a chance to share any of our wonderful activities in Sunflower room. Here are a few examples of the learning and experiences we have shared this past term.

We began by decorating pots and planting beautiful flowers as a thoughtful gift for Mother’s Day. This supported children’s *Expressive Arts and Design as well as *Understanding the World*, as they explored growth and care for living things.

We also enjoyed celebrating Eid together by building brick mosques, painting henna-inspired hand designs, and baking delicious star-shaped biscuits. These experiences helped develop children’s awareness of different cultures and traditions, linking closely to *Understanding the World and *Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
Of course, we also made time to celebrate together by sharing cake and ice cream 🍰🍦

Outdoors, the children had lots of fun making “nature pizzas” in our mud kitchen using a variety of natural resources. We also created magical nature potions both inside and outside, encouraging *Exploration, *Communication and Language, and imaginative play.

For Easter activities, we used potato mashers to create colourful egg prints and made tasty edible nests using cereal and chocolate. These activities supported *Physical Development and *Expressive Arts and Design, while also building fine motor skills.

We explored patterns and sequencing through egg matching games, strengthening early maths skills within *Mathematics. To finish the term, the children took part in an exciting egg and spoon obstacle race, developing their *Balance, Coordination, and teamwork skills within *Physical Development.

We are so proud of all the creativity, curiosity, and teamwork shown by the children

Over the past couple of weeks the children have enjoyed lots of messy play, and exploring the textures with all of their senses. They have also enjoyed the activities like playdough and sensory bags for the children who don’t like to be messy.🌈🫟🫧

🏮 A Week of Celebration in the Sunflowers Room! 🏮
Happy Friday, Sunflower families! We’ve had a vibrant, busy week as we immersed ourselves in the sights, sounds, and tastes of Chinese New Year. 🐎

Our little learners have been exploring new traditions and developing their fine motor skills through some wonderful activities:

Chopstick Challenge: We practiced our pincer grip by using chopsticks to pick up "noodles" (slippery spaghetti!). There was a lot of focus and determination in the room.

Creative Lanterns: The room is glowing with the beautiful red and yellow tissue paper lanterns the children crafted together.

Cultural Rhythms: We’ve been captivated by videos of traditional Chinese dancing—the children did a fantastic job trying out the moves! We also enjoyed listening to some of our favorite English nursery rhymes sung in Chinese.

The highlight of our week? Our Friday Feast! 🥢
We wrapped up our celebrations with a delicious snack tasting session. The children were very brave explorers as they tried:

Soft and fluffy duck bao buns

Savory vegetable rice

Slurpy udon noodles

And of course, a fortune cookie for dessert! (The general consensus: they are very crunchy!)

It has been a wonderful week of discovery and celebration. Check out the photos below to see our mini-dancers and chefs in action! 📸

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
The Sunflowers Team 🌻

🌻 Sunflowers Room – What a Busy Week! 🌻
This week our little learners have been super busy exploring, creating and learning through play 💛
✨ We’ve been developing our fine motor skills by using pegs on cut-out heart shapes
🚗 The children loved running cars across numbered tracks, building confidence with numbers
🎉 We proudly celebrated Number Day with lots of number fun
🎨 We got creative painting on foil, exploring different textures and effects
🍝 Careful fingers were needed as we threaded hoops onto spaghetti
🌿 And to finish the week, we made some magical flower soup, then reused the leaves for beautiful leaf printing
So much learning, creativity and fun packed into one week – well done Sunflowers! 🌼💫

What a busy and creative week we’ve had in Sunflowers room! ✨
The children explored numbers by writing them in flour, got messy painting on ice ❄️🎨, matched shapes, dressed up for imaginative play, and followed patterns by threading pasta.
All of these activities support learning and development across the EYFS, encouraging early maths skills, creativity, communication, and fine motor development — all through fun, hands-on play! 💛
We’re so proud of their curiosity and enthusiasm this week 👏😊
