This past term has flown by so fast we have not had a chance to share any of our wonderful activities in Sunflower room. Here are a few examples of the learning and experiences we have shared this past term.
We began by decorating pots and planting beautiful flowers as a thoughtful gift for Mother’s Day. This supported children’s *Expressive Arts and Design as well as *Understanding the World*, as they explored growth and care for living things.
We also enjoyed celebrating Eid together by building brick mosques, painting henna-inspired hand designs, and baking delicious star-shaped biscuits. These experiences helped develop children’s awareness of different cultures and traditions, linking closely to *Understanding the World and *Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
Of course, we also made time to celebrate together by sharing cake and ice cream 🍰🍦
Outdoors, the children had lots of fun making “nature pizzas” in our mud kitchen using a variety of natural resources. We also created magical nature potions both inside and outside, encouraging *Exploration, *Communication and Language, and imaginative play.
For Easter activities, we used potato mashers to create colourful egg prints and made tasty edible nests using cereal and chocolate. These activities supported *Physical Development and *Expressive Arts and Design, while also building fine motor skills.
We explored patterns and sequencing through egg matching games, strengthening early maths skills within *Mathematics. To finish the term, the children took part in an exciting egg and spoon obstacle race, developing their *Balance, Coordination, and teamwork skills within *Physical Development.
We are so proud of all the creativity, curiosity, and teamwork shown by the children
