I'm thinking of bringing Lift Lab back...

A few years ago, before I had my own studio, I used to run 4-week strength workshops, and I've been thinking about bringing them back.

One of the things I've realised after 25 years of coaching women is that learning to lift well takes time.

When women first start strength training, it's easy to pick up poor technique, and that's often where injuries, aches, frustration and a lack of confidence begin.

We then spend a big part of a PT session learning how to squat, deadlift, press and row safely and confidently.

Those skills are incredibly important, but they also take time, which means less time actually training.

So I'd love to create a space dedicated purely to learning.

Not a bootcamp.

Not a fitness class.

Not a workout where you're trying to keep up.

Just a small group where women can learn the foundations of strength training in a relaxed, supportive environment.

The aim would be to help you:

šŸ’œ Learn how to lift safely and with confidence from the very beginning.

šŸ’œ Improve your technique with individual coaching.

šŸ’œ Build confidence using barbells and dumbbells.

šŸ’œ Ask questions without feeling embarrassed.

šŸ’œ Meet other women who are learning alongside you.

šŸ’œ Refine your technique and work towards your next PB.

šŸ’œ Receive simple Coach's Notes and videos so you can continue practising between sessions.

Whether you're completely new to lifting, looking to improve your technique, or working towards a new personal best, Lift Lab is designed to help you become a stronger, more confident lifter in a supportive environment.

I'm thinking of bringing it back as a 4-week coaching series.

Before I start putting it together...

Is this something you'd genuinely be interested in?

If it is, comment LIFT below or send me a message. I'd love to know if it's something women would find valuable.

There is SO much information aimed at women in midlife that it’s hardly surprising.

Track this. Don’t eat that. Take this supplement. Fast for this long. Train according to your hormones. Walk 10,000 steps. Eat 120g of protein. Don’t let your cortisol spike.

It’s exhausting before you’ve even started.

So if I stripped it right back for a woman who came to me tomorrow wanting to lose some body fat and feel more toned, I’d start here:

Strength train 2–3 times a week.
You don’t need a different workout every time. Learn the basics, repeat them and gradually get stronger.

Walk more.
Not because 10,000 is some magical number. Just look at where you are now and gradually increase it.

Build your meals around protein.
You don’t need to live on chicken and protein shakes. Just make sure there’s a decent protein source at each meal.

Eat mostly foods that actually fill you up.
Fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, protein, healthy fats — normal food.

And stop expecting one imperfect weekend to undo everything.
What you do consistently matters far more than what happens occasionally.

That’s where I’d start.

Not supplements. Not another diet. Not trying to optimise every hormone in your body.

Strength. Movement. Protein. Mostly good food. Consistency.

Keep it simple and give it time to work.

And if protein or strength training are the bits you’re still unsure about, I’ve got a Protein Cheat Sheet and a Beginner’s Strength Guide in my bio to help you get started.

Save this post too — especially for the next time social media makes getting in shape after 40 feel like a full-time job. šŸ˜‚

I’m loving training… I’m hitting goals I never thought I would.

It’s helped my confidence and mental health so much.

No more stupid diets… now I’m celebrating PBs instead.ā€

This is the shift most women don’t expect.

They come in thinking it’s about losing weight, eating less, and doing more.

But it ends up being about something completely different.

Feeling stronger. Building confidence. Actually enjoying training.

Not constantly trying to be smaller…

but actually building confidence and getting stronger.

If you’re fed up with dieting and not sure where to start, I’ve got a couple of beginner coaching spaces available.

Message me START and I’ll send you the details.

Most women I work with in midlife are either skipping breakfast or grabbing something quick and carb-heavy.

And then wondering why they feel exhausted and craving sugar later on.

It’s not willpower—it’s how you’re fuelling your body.

If you’re not sure how to increase your protein, I’ve put together a simple cheat sheet for midlife women.

Because if it was just about calories…

You’d have your results by now.

What I see most?

Women over 40:
– not eating enough
– avoiding strength training
– relying on cardio

…and wondering why nothing’s changing.

Here’s the part that’s often missed—

Muscle is what drives your metabolism.

The more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns at rest.

Not just during a workout…
but all day.

So when you:
eat less
and avoid strength work

You’re actually making it harder for your body to change.

Less fuel.
Less muscle.
Slower metabolism.

After 40, it’s not about doing more.

It’s about doing the right things:

āœ” lifting weights
āœ” eating enough to support your body
āœ” following a structure that actually works That’s exactly how I work with my clients—

Whether that’s 1–1 or inside The Midlife Method #40 starting Monday.

Same method.
Different levels of support.

If you’re ready to stop chasing calories and start seeing progress—

Because it’s not about doing all the things—you’re probably already doing too much.

Life is busy.

You don’t need more overwhelm or more information.
You need a simple method that actually works.

I call it The Midlife Method—and it’s built on the 4 M’s:

🟪 Metabolism – stop slowing it down with diets and start supporting it by building muscle
🟪 Muscle – the more you build, the more your body burns at rest
🟪 Mindset – you can’t change your body if you keep starting over
🟪 Maintenance– because short-term fixes are why you keep getting stuck

This isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about getting strong, building consistency, and finally seeing results that last.

I’ve been coaching this for years…

And I’m now putting this tried and tested method into a 40-day program, exclusively for women over 40.

The Midlife Method #40

We start April 20th

If you’re ready for a 40-day reset…

Let’s go.
