Yew Tree Farm School Farm based special school. Yew Tree Farm School offers a wide variety of different activities for all age groups.

Additionally, we are an alternative provider registered with the local authority

We are very pleased to share the report from our recent Ofsted material change inspection.

Ofsted found that Yew Tree Farm School is likely to meet the relevant Independent School Standards if our proposed changes are implemented. The report also recognises that our current pupils are happy, feel safe and secure, and that we are planning sensibly to grow the school steadily while maintaining the quality of our provision.

We are now awaiting final approval from the Department for Education.

From September 2026, we will begin to increase our pupil numbers very gradually. This will be carefully managed to protect the calm, safe and consistent environment our current pupils value, while ensuring every new starter receives a thorough and supportive transition.

Once DfE approval is received, our registration will allow us to admit secondary-age pupils. However, we will not begin admitting pupils in Key Stages 3 or 4 until September 2027. Growing at a manageable pace is essential to maintaining the high standards, strong relationships and individualised support that sit at the heart of our school.

We are proud of this positive report and excited about the next stage of Yew Tree Farm School’s development.

Some young people are not yet ready to return to a classroom, but they are ready to begin reconnecting with education.

The Yew Tree Futures Re-engagement Pathway offers a calm, practical and highly supported programme for young people aged 14+ who are experiencing barriers to education. Placements are personalised and can include farm-based activities, life skills, equine assisted learning, English and maths, community access and support to rebuild confidence.

The pathway opens on 2nd September at Grove Farm, Woodchurch, and places are available Wednesday to Friday.

This week marks the end of an incredible chapter as we say goodbye to our Alternative Provision at Bredgar.

Over the past five years, we've had the privilege of working alongside so many schools, parents, carers and, most importantly, some truly amazing young people. It has been a privilege to build relationships, watch confidence grow, celebrate achievements, and see students take their next steps towards secondary school, college and brighter futures. To all of our students moving on this September, we wish you every success and happiness for the future.

We have been incredibly fortunate to receive so much support for our Alternative Provision over the years, which has made the decision to close it one of the hardest we've had to make. As Yew Tree Farm School continues to grow, our site and resources need to be focused on meeting the increasing demand for our specialist school provision.

None of what we've achieved would have been possible without our fantastic staff. Through freezing winters, muddy fields, challenging days and unforgettable moments, they have shown endless kindness, dedication and resilience, always managing to keep their sense of humour. Thank you for everything you have given to our students and families.

While we are sad to be saying goodbye to a few members of the team, we are delighted that many will continue their journey with us, either supporting our school students at Yew Tree Farm School or as part of our Alternative Provision at **Yew Tree Futures** in Woodchurch.

To everyone who has been part of our Bredgar journey over the last five years, whether as a student, parent, school, commissioner or member of staff, thank you for believing in what we do. We are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together, and although this chapter is coming to an end, we look forward to continuing to support young people through the next stage of the Yew Tree journey. 💚🌳

💚 A huge thank you to our incredible Yew Tree Farm School team. 💚

What a week it's been!

The hot weather has meant we have had to adapt almost every part of the school day. From moving learning into the woodland, to changing activities at the last minute, encouraging lots of water breaks and reducing demands where needed, every member of staff has worked tirelessly to keep our students safe, comfortable and regulated.

When the classrooms become too hot, horse riding isn't safe, farming activities have to stop and even cooking lunch over the campfire isn't possible, it takes a huge amount of flexibility and creativity to make sure our students still have a positive day.

The photo is of our fantastic teachers, Michelle and Kelly, making the most of the only patch of shade on site that also has Wi-Fi so they could get their planning done between supporting students! It made us smile because it perfectly sums up the resilience, adaptability and good humour our team has shown all week.

To every member of staff – thank you. Your kindness, dedication and unwavering commitment to our students never goes unnoticed. We are incredibly proud of the team we have built at Yew Tree Farm School and so grateful for everything you do, whatever the weather throws at us.

☀️Important Update☀️

Due to the forecast high temperatures, Yew Tree Farm School will be closing at 13:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday to help keep our pupils safe and comfortable.

Our Alternative Provision will remain open as normal.

If your child is attending, please ensure they:

Apply sun cream before arriving (and bring some with them if needed)
Wear a sun hat
Bring a change of clothes in case they would like to take part in water play

We are so excited to welcome everyone back after being closed due to the heat. The safety and wellbeing of our pupils and animals had to come first, and we would like to thank everyone for their support following the decision to close.

Due to the extreme temperatures, we have made the difficult decision to close our Woodchurch Site tomorrow - Friday the 26th. We feel this is the safest decision to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our pupils, staff, and animals.
