Gluttony:

Being a glutton for punishment is not good. Guilt and regret or bitterness and anger do not serve you well in divorce.
No matter what happened in the marriage, divorce resets the relationship back to zero.
You need to drop any idea that the court will punish your ex for any bad behaviour. Except for fraud, siphoning off large sums of money to lavish on their new partner, massive gambling debt, or abuse, judges don’t care what either of you has done.

Divorce is a business deal, plain and simple. What you should be doing is looking to maximise your financial settlement and time with your children.
The reality is divorce strives to equalise the parties financially. There is rarely a financial penalty for moral transgressions.

So I encourage you to let it go. Extend grace to the one who wronged you, including yourself.

Remember parenting is a life-long relationship and you both need to be on top-table at your children’s wedding.

If you going through separation you may feel confused and overwhelm with all process.
My clients often feel alone and isolated.

You may also feel fearful about the future and feel powerless to control it.

What was your first port of call?
Where did you go to look for support?

Have you tried to go to solicitor? Did you ask your family and friends for advice? or perhaps you have just started your research online?

When my divorce papers landed on my door mat. (Actually my 3 years old son brought the papers to my bedroom as I was unaware that my ex asked for divorce). I've booked free solicitors consultation. I had no idea where to start? what to do? I just want to stop it all. I was totally devastated and guess what? the family lawyer I have chosen for my first consultation did not care at all about my feelings .... now I know why... at the end of the day it wasn't his job to offer me emotional support that I needed badly at that time.... I wish I had known it :(

Of course it goes without saying that we need legal advice and eventually I have found great solicitor who had lots of compassion.

At the beginning of the process of divorce I was under the impression that divorce equals just legal proceeding ..and court battles... I was totally wrong ....I was soon to find out how complex it was and how isolated and alone I felt...
I had no idea who is there to help.. and where shall I go for guidance and support?

Every breakup is different but there are other methods than just legal route to separate like mediation, hybrid mediation, DIY divorce, arbitration, collaborative law and few more that I will dive deeper into with you soon...

but for now comment below where did you go for help and have you received help that you needed? x

As a divorce coach I walk the path with my clients to help them avoid making mistakes, avoiding pitfalls and making informed decisions,
whiles all the time I am helping them to understand and control their emotions.

Once I was going through divorce I was surprised by the intensity of my own feelings of panic, hopelessness and despair.
There was nothing or no one that could convince me that devastation is temporary. I didn’t know where to turn for support.
I just don’t want others to struggle as I had during this difficult time. So I gave up my daily job to help person I used to be.

When people think about divorce they don’t know where to start and what they want from divorce proceeding. It can get very confusing and divorce coach can help and guide them through the process as painless as possible.

As a coach I help my clients work through logistics and business of divorce, making it less overwhelming, less terrifying, and allowing them to put energy and thought into how they can reduce the negative impact on their family and their lives.
