West Lodge is a co-educational preparatory school for 3 - 11 year olds. A co-educational prep school for children aged 3-11.
Operating as usual

As term draws to a close, teachers have been preparing the children for transition to their new classes in September. Reception Class wrote these fantastic letters (independently) to their new teacher, Mrs Clary, telling her about the things that they enjoy doing.

Congratulations to Eco Council on all their hard work this year which has focused on increasing biodiversity and reducing litter and waste.
Projects have included increasing the number of plants in the classrooms, carrying out litter picks in the local area and reducing waste via a number of recycling initiatives.
Gardening Club have planted flowers and plants to attract a wide array of insects.
Their work has been put forward for a Green Eco Schools Award, and they eagerly await the result.

Year 5 have been studying the book ‘Wonder’ by R.J.Palacio. The story highlights discrimination and family and friendship issues, which the children have enjoyed discussing.
The story has inspired lots of creative writing such as diary entries from different characters’ perspectives and writing a balanced argument about the treatment of a character (pictured). They have also been self-editing their work.

Our Art Exhibition celebrates another fantastic year of Art at West Lodge and showcases pieces from children in Nursery to Year 6. Work featured includes clay work, watercolour paintings, mixed media creations, papier-mâché, collage and textiles.

Year 1 have enjoyed learning about Matisse and created this giant snail as well as individual pieces.

As part of their 'Toys from the Past' topic, Year 1 studied the story of an alien who was taking all the toys as he had lost his toy, Cuddles! The children wrote fantastic warning posters as well as letters in role as lost toys and the alien Hoctopize.

Year 2 have been working on self portraits. Firstly, they were asked to draw a self portrait without any input, guidance or a mirror. Next they learned how to divide their faces into quarters to help draw a more accurate self portrait.
The children worked hard over the next 2-3 lessons to finish their portraits.
