Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed their class reader 'The Enchanted Wood' and used their knowledge of adjectives, verbs, adverbs and similes to create chapters in their own versions of the story.

Their reading inspired them to create their own magical lands that could appear at the top of the Faraway Tree; ideas included 'Arts and Craft World' and 'Upside-down World'....

Reception Class enjoyed last term's topic on transport. They started by comparing old and new forms of transport and conducting a traffic survey outside the school. They then went on a minibus ride followed by a walk and compared these two modes of transport.

Their artwork explored what cars might look like in the future and they wrote accompanying descriptions.

Year 3's Geography topic, 'Rainforests', broadened the children’s knowledge of the world.

Firstly, they used their map skills to identify countries with rainforests. Then they used 'The Great Kapok Tree' in English to complete research on the vast biodiversity within the rainforest, informing the creation of some wonderful calligram poems. Not only did the children have to focus on their language when writing the poems, but also had to consider the visual effect in order to write their poems in the shape of a kapok tree.
