Our Year 5 and 6 netball teams enjoyed friendly matches against St Olave's earlier in the week. Well done to the players; the Year 6 team won 7-6 and the Year 5s won 6-2.

Year 1 and 2 worked collaboratively to create a piece of art inspired by Monet’s work ‘Bouquet of Sunflowers’. They used pastels to create a muted background, made a 3D paper vase and used crepe and tissue paper to make the sunflowers and stems.

Year 6 enjoyed an inspiring event at BFI Southbank, led by Baroness Floella Benjamin. The session introduced pupils to her film ‘Coming to England’, which is a stunning adaptation of her autobiography, charting her journey from Trinidad to Britain in the early 1960s.
Following the screening she explored some of the themes contained within the film with the children including difference, discrimination and anti-bullying.

Congratulations to these young engineers who have been successful in the London regional finals of a national engineering competition. Their well designed ideas and engaging letters caught the attention of the panel of expert judges and engineers.
Our Reception pupil's 'Lego-sort' invention saw him selected as a Winner in the London Region.
Our Year 3 pupil's 'Idea Fridge' was Highly Commended as was a former pupil's 'Magic Reading Pen'.
They are looking forward to the Awards Ceremony where their designs will exhibited alongside those of other entrants. There will also be the opportunity for them to meet the engineers who were involved in the grading and judging process.
Our innovative Engineering Curriculum is part of West Lodge's 'Skillset for Success'.

Congratulations to last term's Learning Power Champions who consistently used their Learning Powers throughout the term.
Over the last term we have routinely observed children in Early Years making improvements to their work, concentrating on their tasks and being resilient when activities are hard, and KS1 children collaborating and supporting others in discussions.
KS2 children are confidently fostering all our Learning Powers; frequently demonstrating cooperation, reflecting on their learning and questioning ideas.
It is clear to see that the Learning Powers support children in feeling confident to face any challenge that they encounter.

Some more pictures from last term's Year 5 and 6 School Journey to France, showing the wide range of opportunities the children had to explore French cuisine and culture.
Children enjoyed a visit to Brie Compte Robert, the home of the famous French cheese Brie, made their own crêpes and some even tried les escargot.
