Information about the School
The Yellow House is a very small and well-resourced specialist school for just 15 – 20 pupils with social and emotional needs. We have a wonderful team of tutors with a therapeutic outlook who aspire to support our pupils through both their emotional needs and academic studies.

Our team is kind, supportive and connected. We offer fantastic learning opportunities for our staff and will support you through your transition. We have two sites and you will work across both.

Job Title Therapeutic Tutor - Maths
Reports to Headteacher, The Yellow House Directors
Liaison with Headteacher, Leadership Team, SENCo, Therapeutic Tutors, Office Manager
Job Purpose As a member of The Yellow House team to promote the values and ethos of The Yellow House School, to assist in ensuring the achievement of the highest possible standards in the school and in creating an atmosphere and structures in which our pupils feel safe and valued and staff have high expectations of them.
Principal Accountabilities
Deliver agreed learning lessons/activities to pupils, adjusting lessons/activity according to pupil responses/needs.
Duties • To support and liaise with the Therapeutic Manager in implementing therapeutic interventions i.e. developing therapeutic resources for use under the direction and guidance of the Therapeutic Manager and Head Teacher.

• To support and liaise with the Allotment Manager in maintaining the school’s allotment as a learning resource, under the direction and guidance of the curriculum manager and Head Teacher.

• And will undertake any other duties tasks or responsibilities which may reasonably be required by the managers.

General • Liaise with other staff; social workers and other professionals, parents of children, outside agencies and members of public.

• Help to ensure an emotionally and physically safe and stimulating learning environment for children.

• Write daily records and make relevant contributions to review reports.

• Attend and contribute to meetings (including staff and review meetings).

• Have a thorough knowledge of the curriculum and be committed to supporting children in achieving their targets.

• Understand and be committed to The Yellow House philosophy, policy and practice, vision and values.

• Take responsibility for the care and appropriate use of The Yellow House resources.

• Promote and maintain good relationships with the local community.

• Show commitment to personal development, e.g. through undertaking training.

• Transportation of children, as driver or as es**rt.

• Deliver / cover and record outcomes of planned lessons to pupils, across the whole Yellow House curriculum, as required.

• Contribute to the baseline assessment of children admitted to the school.

• Monitoring, recording and reporting progress of the pupils in the centre.

• Plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate units and modules of study to pupils under the direction of the Head Teacher / Curriculum Manager.

• Undertake therapeutic work with individuals and groups of pupils.

• Working in partnership with other staff in the day to day running of the centre and the management of the children.

• Work in close collaboration with parents through home visits and act as a key worker for designated pupils.

The duties above are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the postholder may be required by the Headteacher to carry out appropriate duties within the context of the job, skills and grade.

Due to the ongoing nationwide fuel issues there may well be disruptions to your child’s time in school until the matter is resolved. The taxi company and the school are trying everything in their control to keep these changes to a minimum. We will notify any parents if these changes apply to their child. A leaflet for anyone who wants to know more about rTMS (repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), a treatment for depression. It looks at how rTMS works, why it is used, its effects and side effects, as well as alternative treatments.
