What a wonderful morning at SHS celebrating our brilliant year 13 students as they collected their . With almost half of all grades at A*/A, three quarters at A*/B and 94.2% A*-C there has been success across the board, with particular success this year for Physics and Computer Science (80% grades A*/A), and Maths and Further Maths (75% grades A*/A).

We are delighted that over 90% of students heading to university this September achieved their first choice university. From Mechanical Engineering at Edinburgh, Anthropology at Durham, Environmental Science at Exeter, Veterinary Science at Bristol and Liverpool and Computer Science at York and Leeds, as always the paths for our leavers are varied but always exciting, and to our students, whatever you have planned next, we couldn’t be prouder of you all.

As the sun beams down on Town Walls today we look forward to welcoming the class of 2026 in to school to collect their A Level results tomorrow. We are immensely proud of you all, go out and do wonderful things.

Presenting our House Drama winners - 💚Jupiter 💚

With so many incredible performances, Mrs Labbé had a difficult decision to make, but with their fantastic performance of Aladdin - flying carpet and all - they came out on top! Well done girls.

In assembly we celebrated all of the achievements of our fantastic students, who all deserve a break! Have fun, try everything, be brave, feel the sand beneath your feet, and we’ll see you all in September! ☀️

From the market streets of Agrabah, via small provincial towns and enchanted forests far, far away, to the Emerald City, SHS presents… ⭐️ House Drama ⭐️

This year’s performances took a fairytale twist as Apollo performed Beauty and the Beast, Jupiter brought us Aladdin, Mercury gave us Snow White, and Neptune donned their ruby slippers to present The Wizard of Oz.

An enormous amount of effort went into this year’s performances and it showed! From our outstanding house teams, to all of our performers, staff cameos and those that took the time to join us in the audience- thank you all for making it a very special night.

Tomorrow two of our longest serving teachers retire from our Science Department. Mrs Harding, our Head of Science, retires after a wonderful 22 years at Shrewsbury High, whilst Mrs Gallivan, Physics teacher and Sixth Form tutor, retires not only after 22 years at Shrewsbury High, but having worked for the GDST since 1988!

We wish to thank them both for their hard work in the Science department and across the whole of the school. Enjoy a very well earned retirement. You will be greatly missed.

The stunning surroundings of Woodhill Park played host to The Importance of Being Earnest performed by some of Shrewsbury High’s most talented actors. Last weekend, as the sun shone and the air was filled with the scent of English roses and lavender, the audience enjoyed the wonderful performance expertly curated by our Director of Drama Mrs Labbé. Thanks go to all of those involved, especially the girls, for taking the time to entertain the crowd in such a quintessentially British fashion.

Last week, SHS Director of Sport Mrs Causebrook awarded half and full colours to students in recognition of their consistent commitment and excellence across sports including netball, hockey, cricket, dance, equestrian, gymnastics, football, athletics, tennis, and swimming. Mrs Causebrook congratulated the girls on another successful year of sport “This has been a year of collective achievement, where our teams have demonstrated not only skill and determination in fixtures, but also the true spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship. Week after week, pupils have represented the school with resilience and humility, celebrating victories, learning from challenges and growing together as teams”. Congratulations everyone! 👏👏👏

Our Adventure Club girls had a great time on Friday at Rattlinghope for their last club night of the year. For some, it was their first camp out - for others they were returning for a second year to enjoy the beautiful hill top sunset, Mrs Cook’s spooky ghost stories and s’mores around the fire. Thank you to Ms Cook and Mrs Cooke for giving us a new adventure every week! 🏕️

Huge congratulations to year 12 students Esme, Tamara, Yasmin, Nayella and Freya who won the Gold Award 🏆 and “Project of the Year” at the Industrial Cadets Engineering Development Trust Awards. Following months of research, design, and testing, our Engineering team proudly represented the school at the Celebration Day, where they showcased their project investigating the effectiveness of McKinney baffles in wastewater treatment.

Throughout the day, the team spoke to visitors, judges and other students about the project, explaining how they designed and built a working model, created 3D CAD designs, carried out Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling using ANSYS, and analysed their results before producing a 38-page technical report.

Winning the competition was a fantastic way to recognise months of hard work and dedication. The project gave our students valuable experience in engineering design, research, CAD modelling, experimental testing, report writing and professional presentation skills, while also allowing them to work on a real engineering challenge provided by industry.
Thanks to Mr Heighway De Montfort University (DMU) and the girls’ mentors at Mott MacDonald for their support throughout the project.
