🚵Six friends complete their cycling challenge from Whitehaven to Sunderland for Shropshire Mental Health Support. Liam Hoofe, Nathan Ritchie, Duncan Bowen, Ben Shelton, Tom Eales, and Kris Bekker not only completed their 205km cycle but also raised over £2,200 for the charity.
🚴The team started their 205km on 07 August and completed it over two days; during their cycle, they faced around 2,800m of elevation gain. The worst moment of the challenge came during the start of the second day, when they started their ride on a steep incline on already stiff and aching legs.
⛰Liam Hoofe said, “The cycle was extremely challenging both mentally and physically, and there were definitely moments where we wondered what we had gotten ourselves into. Knowing we were raising money for such a worthwhile cause was a real motivator, though, and it helped push us towards the finishing line. We want to thank everyone for their donations and support we have received over the last few weeks."
💜Heather Ireland said, “We are so grateful to Liam, Nathan, Duncan, Ben, Tom, and Kris for completing their epic cycle challenge. We know it wasn’t easy, especially with the heat at the moment; the team should be feeling so proud of their achievement; their story is inspiring. The team smashed their fundraising target, raising much-needed funds for Shropshire Mental Health Support.”

💜‘Two Pound Tuesday’, where we are asking you to donate £2 to help us deliver support to people in Shropshire who are living with mental health challenges. At the heart of Shropshire Mental Health Support charity is a simple belief: no one should have to navigate their mental health struggles alone, and we need your help to do this!
Did you know…
🫖A £2 donation could pay for a cup of tea or coffee at our weekly Women’s Group. An established group of approx. 10-16 ladies who enjoy a start-of-session welcome chat and then a light-hearted activity that fosters connection and uplifting distraction.
💚We run 8 peer support groups weekly, from two walking groups, the allotment group, The Evergreens, Men and Women’s Groups, Crafty-Afty and a drop-in. Our peer-support groups are informal, welcoming environments where peers can meet, engage respectfully, and enjoy mutual company.
🔗Link in comments to donate or link in bio on Instagram. We recognise that some people aren't in a position to donate, so liking this post, commenting on it, sharing it or saving it is like donating money to the charity and helps us to reach more people.
