Webpage Update: I’ve finally published my feature page for The SEN Practitioner — and I’m really proud of this one.

My chapter, Inclusive Classrooms: Good for Everyone, Good for Dyslexia, explores something close to my heart:
the emotional labour of masking, the strength in neurodivergent traits, and the idea that when we design for dyslexic learners and practitioners, we create classrooms that work better for everyone.

I’ve also added a podcast conversation where I talk about these themes — and answer the question:
“If SEND were a song, what would it be?”

I really appreciated this blog, especially the focus on writing as thinking and why that matters for learning.
But I want to offer a slightly different perspective, particularly from a neurodiversity lens.

For some learners, especially those with dyslexia, working memory challenges, or differences in how they process and connect ideas.

AI doesn’t replace thinking.

It can enable it.
Used well, it can:

hold ideas when memory drops
help pupils connect fragmented thinking
give structure to thoughts that are hard to express
support reflection and self-understanding

For some of the students we work with, this isn’t a shortcut, it’s the difference between accessing thinking and not.
That’s where I think the conversation needs to go next.
