Small changes can have big impacts and over recent years I’ve been making these changes to food for myself and my little family.
When I discovered that the UK government has decided to add folic acid into white bread flour (by December 2026) I decided to look closer look at the bread flour I have been using and I did some research.
There are lots of discussions on the web and a lot of hoo hah regarding this change and I can see both sides of the argument.
I’ve been proud that we have been eating home baked bread for years but I never stopped to look at what was actually in the flour, because it’s blinking flour, right?!
Anyway I have tried different bread flours over recent months and I have made the switch to using Nelstrops and boy is it good. The sourdough and bread rolls need a little more liquid with this flour but the results are superior.
Yes the bags are large but decanting some into a tub and then storing the rest in the cupboard saves me a fortune too.
If you are making bread at home I’d definitely take a look at their products, you won’t be disappointed.
For now , happy baking, Love Caroline ###
