This week at Hempmill the Stables Gallery has finally launched our online shop with our first online exhibition - Seven Shino Tea Bowls.
Richard has selected some of the best pieces from the last wood firing. The response has been fantastic and a big thank you to all who have purchased.

In light of this unprecedented situation with most of us in quarantine - I have prepared homework for our pottery students.
I have prepared a bag of clay each, a worksheet demonstrating the project and a tool kit. I will put the clay, tool kits and worksheets on a table outside the gallery for collection. I can wave at everyone through the window as you collect :)

In response to the spread of COVID-19, government advice and to protect our students we have decided to temporarily close the classes at Hempmill Pottery & Cookery School from Tuesday 17th March until further notice.

We would like to thank all our students for the messages of support as we negotiate these difficult weeks ahead. Your continued support is very much appreciated. We will keep you informed of any changes.

We have 3 spaces available on our next pottery taster day, this coming Monday, 16th March. This is a small group lesson, maximum 6 people, with Richard, who has over 25 years teaching experience and is very good with beginners!
There’ll be a brief introduction to preparing clay and how the studio works before getting onto the wheel and having a go. You will have lots of time on your own wheel, and constant input from Richard to ensure you get the most out of the session. We will glaze and fire your best three pots for you to pick up at a later date.
The cost of the day is £60 which includes materials, firing and plenty of tea, coffee and homemade biscuits. Email us at [email protected] to book

Still one place left on our Wednesday evening class!

All the students coming to classes last week have been having Madeleines with their coffee and tea. Lucy was dusting up on some classic recipes. Having to be freshly baked and eaten warm from the oven this little piece of french awesomeness is the reason my diet took a serious wobble.

One of the great things I’m enjoying about teaching from Hempmill is demonstrating hand building again. For this terms hand build project we have been looking at slab building with the wonderful new slab roller.

Due to demand we’ll be starting the second half of term with a whole new daytime class. There are no daytime places left but we have two evening class spaces available on Wednesday. You can book online at www.hempmillpotterycookeryschool.co.uk/courses/
