Following the launch of a new range of musical ensembles in January, Shropshire Music Service held its first series of celebration concerts to mark the achievements of pupils from across the region. On Saturday 20th May, all new ensembles performed to sell-out audiences in a series of three concerts. The event, held at Meole Brace School featured performances from children ages four to eighteen.

A particular highlight of the concerts was the inaugural performance of Shropshire Stompers, open to all beginner instrumentalists across the county. The four groups from Ludlow, Cleobury Mortimer, Shrewsbury and Wem joined together for a mass performance: over 100 children played together for the first time to a packed audience. Their rendition of ‘We Will Rock You’ raised the roof with audiences clapping and stomping along!

Winners! We're so proud to be recognised by Shropshire Council with our award for 'outstanding practice in listening to children's views'.

Our ensembles are now delivered all across the county and we've trebled the number of children and young people now participating in our weekly programme of musical activities. Teaching music, changing lives!
