This week Saplings have been exploring different animals based around the story 'Monkey Puzzle' on Tuesday we created our own butterfly pictures using cotton buds and paint, we made our own marks and then folded the paper to create a mirror image to reveal a butterfly!
The children have learnt about the message behind this story and how we are all different, look different and have different families!πŸ›πŸ¦‹πŸ’

One of our activities that the Acorns have thoroughly enjoyed this week was sliding boats down pipes into water! The children were fascinated watching the boats slide down making a big splash in the water. They shouted "ready, steady, go!" before letting go of the boats at the top of the pipes. We looked at how changing the angle of the pipe would affect the speed of the boat, the children all wanted the boats to go as fast as they possibly could so quickly learned that they needed to lift the pipes up! πŸ›₯🌊

This week Catkins book of the week is 'Room on the broom'. The children loved role playing dressing up as the witch and exploring coloured materials in water like a potion. Catkins practiced their single words with naming the colours they could see and counting how many colours they were pulling out of the water. Well done Catkins! 😁

This week in Oaks, the children had a fantastic time exploring the dressing-up items and participating in party games to celebrate friends moving on to big school! They loved taking on different roles and becoming various characters, which helped enhance their creativity and teamwork. Overall, it was a fun and engaging environment filled with dancing, dressing up, and all enjoyed playing together.

Last weeks book of the week in Acorns room has been 'Little Bear's Big Adventure'. The children have taken part in lots of exciting activities just like Bear did in the book! We went on a hunt for strawberries around the garden, picking them and collecting them in a basket. We enjoyed counting all the strawberries together once they had all been found! Acrorns also made bear caves out of soft play, went 'fishing' and had a pretend bear picnic just like the bears from the story! πŸ“πŸ»

This week, Oaks have been learning all about last night’s solar eclipse. The children had a great time creating their own paper plate glasses ready to watch it and spoke about how we can do this safely so that we do not hurt our eyes. Oaks have loved using the planet recourses to help us learn all about how a solar eclipse happens.

Please join us in wishing our lovely financial administrator Debbie a very Happy Retirement! Debbie has been with us for 17 years and has supported lots of Daisy Chain families over this time.
We would like to thank her for all of her hard work and commitment to the company, she will certainly be missed. πŸ’•

This week in Oaks, the children have been learning all about summer. We have talking all about how we can keep cool and have spoken about the safety of being outside in the sunshine. The children loved using the wet sponges to throw at the target; practicing our throwing as well as working on our number recognition. We also used good fine motor skills and listening to instructions when carefully using the child safe knives to create our "fruit pizzas". Other activities throughout the week included creating nurseries very own lemonade stand as well as using water and stencils to create shapes, letters and numbers on the paper.

On Monday Saplings children arrived at nursery to a new friend called Bill! Bill is a little butterfly that was rescued by Katie. This week the children have been taking care of Bill by giving him some fruit. Today we are going to release him back into the wild! The children have loved having this responsibility and have taken on their roles very seriously! We also talked about where Bill came from before he was a butterfly "he was a caterpillar then built a cocoon" πŸ¦‹πŸ›βœ¨

This week Catkins have been celebrating "Owl Awareness Day". We have focused on the Owl Babies story and had lots of fun making our own life sized owl nest using a range of fabrics and natural materials such as sticks, feathers and pinecones. We loved exploring the different textures whilst building as well as practicing our "flying" around the garden using a variety of movements.
