This week, our Oaks children enjoyed a minibeasts theme, discovering various bugs. They explored our garden during a bug hunt and created a frog habitat in the tuff tray Oaks also practiced our balancing skills by balancing on a masking tape spiderweb that we created in the garden, The children chose lots of different insect stories to read and listen to as well as rescuing bugs from frozen ice, describing it as "cold" and "hard". A huge well done to the Oaks for their fantastic efforts this week! 🐛😄

The children in Acorns have loved taking part in our 'Grubby Gruffalo' session this week where they have been making 'Big bad mouse smoothies'. They enjoyed using the water dispenser to fill up different containers as well as mashing up berries in pestle and mortars. The children then worked as a team to mix it all up in a big bowl to create their smoothie! Well done Acorns! 🐭🍓

This morning Catkins have been exploring blackberries as a natural paint. Using wooden and plastic cutlery as their painting tools, they had lots of fun getting messy with mashing and spreading them around to create marks. The children also enjoyed using their hands to feel the blackberries whilst also furthering their development by smelling them too. Catkins seemed fascinated as they watched the purple colour appear and this is their finished masterpiece! Well done Catkins! 😁

Last week in Oaks, we had a wonderful time exploring vehicles and transport methods. The children engaged in activities like measuring toy cars with tape measures, roleplaying at an airport, and using hula hoops as steering wheels for their own cars. They really enjoyed talking about the different modes of transport they see outside of nursery. We ended the week by creating roleplay bake sales and picnics, and even made fruit scones to celebrate Macmillan's bake sale day. It was a week full of learning and creativity, Keep up the great work, Oaks! 😊

This week Catkins are developing on their role playing skills, each day they are role playing people who help us and today was cleaners! Whilst in the garden the children followed the simple instructions and helped clean our wooden bikes. After this Catkins then used our role playing cleaners set and got to work with pretending to clean the home corner. Well done Catkins!

Last week Saplings had a busy week learning about our emotions through one of our favourite stories 'The Colour Monster'. On Wednesday the children used toilet roll tubes and coloured paint to create their own colour monsters! They enjoyed creating circle shapes on their paper and then mixing the colours to see what happened! We had a variety of different creations and talked about how our monsters were feeling "my monster is yellow and happy" "look it feels loved, like my Mummy loves me" "he's a bit sad". Well done Saplings!😃😭🥰🌈

Following the children's current interests of farm animals, we have been taking part in activities based on the book 'What The Ladybird Heard' in Acorns this week. The children role played as farmers and helped to feed the cow by taking it in turns to feed grass and hay into the cows mouth! They enjoyed saying "MOO!" and "Yum yum" as well as practicing their single words such as food, cow and grass. Well done Acorns! 🐮🐞

Saplings have had a busy week based upon our story of the week 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea'. We have been creating our own tiger prints using a range of materials including tissue paper, paint and bubble wrap and playdough! We've also enjoyed hosting our own tea party's for the babies and teddy's and talking about healthy food we could take on our picnic!🐅🥪🍰🍎🍉

To celebrate 'Emergency Services Day' the children in Acorns have been learning about the people who helps us and work in the emergency services. Some of the activities we have done this week include putting pretend chalk fires out using water, rescuing animals in life boats and making our teddies feel better by putting plasters on them. They have also enjoyed listening to our book of the week 'Emergency' looking at all the emergency vehicle pictures! 🚒🚔🚑
