It’s nearly time to go back to school in September - wine school! Imagine sitting with one of your favourite glasses of wine, learning a little about where the wine comes from and what makes it different, surrounded by like-minded people? I don’t remember school being like this!

During the “autumn term” we have a variety of events to suit everyone from novice to seasoned wine buff.

🍷Introduction to Wine - it does exactly what it says on the tin. A great place to start.
🍷Cheese and Wine - very similar but with six lovely cheeses expertly paired with the wine
🍷Charcuterie and Wine - as above but with some nice meaty snacks instead of Cheese
🍷Evenings dedicated to the wines of:
France 🇫🇷
Italy 🇮🇹
Spain 🇪🇸
Australia 🇦🇺
New Zealand 🇳🇿
Chile 🇨🇱
Argentina 🇦🇷
South Africa 🇿🇦
USA 🇺🇸

🍷Plus many more including our ever-popular Sherry and Port events. For this year we have launched a spectacular pre-Christmas food & Wine experience on the Friday before Christmas too!
🍷 if a more structured course is more your thing we also have the world-leading WSET courses up to Level 3 too (that really is back to school!)

Whatever event floats your boat, head over to our website (link in bio) for more information. Rest assured the atmosphere is informal and fun and you get to meet like-minded people.

Why not bring a friend? In fact if you “refer a friend” (details on website) you can both save some money too!

On the subject of money, are offering £100 towards the event of your choice in our brilliant back to school competition - don’t forget to check it out for your chance to win!

Great to see so many people at our recent Albariño tasting. We were much obliged to for sponsorship of the event.

6 lovely Albariño wines from Galicia, the “green” part of Spain, as we explored the climate, geography and other wine-related information behind one of the most fashionable white grape varieties at the moment.

Amongst our regular events, we have another special sponsored masterclass on 13 November, where we will be looking at Old Vines from Italy.

Thanks to Australian Wine and New Zealand Wine for a superb masterclass and tasting event on Monday in Birmingham.

Presented by MWs .symington and we got an in-depth presentation of the history of both wine-producing countries and a very much up to date report on where they are today. Some fabulous wines were tasted and although it’s unfair to single any out for me the Dogpoint Sauvignon Blanc was textbook how Marlborough SB should be and (arguably) “the greatest Chardonnay in the world” Leuwin’s amazing Art Point.

Alongside the 10 wines in the masterclass were another 60 in the “free pour” tasting covering all the classic styles from these two major wine producing countries.

I’m not usually a big fan of the “pet nat” style but was blown away with how good Greystone Wines “pet nat” Pnot Noir/Riesling from Canterbury was. Chapeau!

Also attending was Jake from and it was good to catch up with him and talk about all things .

Some students relaxing after the exam. Always the best part of the course.

Well done to everyone for completing the course. Challenging but very worthwhile.

Wine-tasting in the beautiful English countryside, what a lovely way for a group of hens to celebrate their friend’s forthcoming wedding.

The weather was great so this wine tasting was held in the garden. The theme was “blind wine bluff”, wines poured with labels covered and two different descriptions offered.

in teams you’re invited to decide which is correct.

Great fun and not as hard as you might think!

Wines tasted were

Cremant de Bourgogne rosé 🇫🇷
New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc 🇳🇿
Australian Riesling 🇦🇺
Argentinian Torrontes 🇦🇷
South African Chardonnay 🇿🇦
Tavel AC (rosé) 🇫🇷
Valpolicella Ripasso DOC (red) 🇮🇹
Jumilla DO (red) 🇪🇸

Everyone had a great time and the venue - couldn’t have been a better spot.
