👋 Sharing this on behalf of Shropshire Council's Parenting Team — their groups are back after the summer holidays, and this autumn they've got some brand new ones too!

A quick reminder on who's who: 🧸 The 0-5 Group is for any parent with at least one child aged 0-5. Got an older one too? No problem, you're still welcome. 👨‍👧 The Male Carer Group is just for dads, grandads and male carers.

NEW for Autumn: ✨ Understanding Your Child (Fathers & Male Carers) — same great content, but with dads and male carers sharing their own unique perspective on parenting. Starts Tuesday 22 September, 5-7pm, Shrewsbury (venue TBC). 10 weeks, finishing 1 December.

✨ Understanding Your Child (0-5 years) — focused on the big transitions: nursery, school, and everything that comes with the next stage of development. Starts Monday 21 September, 12.30-2.30pm at The Lantern, Shrewsbury SY1 4NG. 10 weeks, finishing 30 November.

Both groups help you understand your child's behaviour, build a stronger relationship, boost confidence for you both, and give you a way to repair things when they go wrong.

😴 We're also running our free Sleep Tight groups from September and November, covering sleep hygiene, what's causing the sleep issues, and sleep diaries to help spot patterns. Sessions run virtually via MS Teams — see the poster for dates and times. There's also a SEND-friendly group, no formal diagnosis needed.

This morning we have been on a lovely walk around Battlefield. We found lots of wildlife and picked some yummy blackberries!😊☀️💚🖤

Eligible working parents are now able to access 30 hours of funded childcare a week, for 38 weeks of the year, starting from the term after their child turns 9 months old until they begin school.

All eligible working parents of children who will be at least nine months old on or before 31st August will now be able to apply for their 30 hours childcare.

Don't forget to log into your childcare account and reconfirm your details are up to date. It's crucial you do this every 3 month to be able to still claim your 30 hours funded childcare.

Parents signing up to receive funded childcare in September must have applied for their Childcare Choices code before the 31st August 2026. Please note that late codes can no longer be accepted.
