As part of the year 6 current Science topic of 'Animals and their Habitats' they walked down to Shrewsbury's
Rea Brook Nature Reserve to catch and identify the
tiny creatures that inhabit the UK's ponds and rivers.

Wellies provided no protection for the children
as they literally threw themselves, waist deep for
some of them, into the task. Using nets and magnifying glasses, they scrutinised various larvae, crustaceans, fish and leeches, jotting down their findings for use in class this week.

We even had the privilege to be observed ourselves - by a friendly kingfisher who zipped past us on two occasions!

The KS2 football team took part in a football festival at STFC last week. The boys played amazingly well in all 7 games against lots of different local school. Winning 3 games, drawing 3 games and losing only 1.

A special mention to some of our year 4 pupils
who were playing up against older children and competed really well too. The boys had a fantastic morning of football fun and represented the school
showing exceptional sportsmanship
throughout the day.

Bonjour from St Winefride’s!

Every Tuesday, we are lucky to have Madame Saunders to St Winefride’s, where she teaches French to the whole school! 🇫🇷

Our EYFS and KS1 children are having lots of fun learning French phonics through fun songs, rhymes, actions and engaging activities.

Learning a new language from a young age is such a wonderful way to build confidence, communication skills and a love of different cultures.
We love hearing our little French speakers practising their new words around school!

EXCITING NEWS AT ST WINEFRIDE’S!

We are absolutely delighted to announce the
Mickey Brown Football Academy at St Winefride’s School!

A very special opportunity for our children to train, learn and be inspired by Shrewsbury Town legend Mickey Brown — bringing together football, confidence, teamwork and the values that help children succeed both on and off the pitch.

●And most importantly… more than football — a lesson in what it takes to succeed.

This is something we are incredibly excited to bring to our St Winefride’s families, with all proceeds going towards new sports equipment for our school.

Our children have taken part in a vote to select their House Captains and Sports Captains for each house last week. It was wonderful to see them engaging in the voting process and having their voices heard.
Congratulations to all of our newly elected captains! We look forward to seeing them take on their leadership roles, represent their houses with pride, and encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and participation throughout the year.
