Happy at St Winefride’s 💛🤎
There’s nothing quite like seeing our children happy, smiling and enjoying their time at school. From the moment they walk through our doors, we want every child to feel safe, valued, supported and proud to be part of our St Winefride’s family.

Since opening in 1868, St Winefride’s has been educating and inspiring children, creating memories and helping generations of young people grow, learn and flourish.
Over 150 years later, that same sense of community remains at the heart of our school. 💛
Here’s to happy children, wonderful memories and many more years of learning together! 🌟

Year 6 Residential 2026

Year 6 braved the wilds of Shropshire on their 3-day Summer residential this week. Despite the scorching temperatures, they managed to summon the strength to kayak along the River Severn, hike up the Long Mynd, compete in archery, team-building and ping pong competitions and soak each other with numerous water-pistol fights. Of course, there was down time as well where the children had a paddling-pool party, watched a film and chilled out in the grounds of the Long Mynd Adventure Camp. Fuelled with homemade spag bol, cakes, pizza and countless ice lollies, the children outdid themselves and had yet another marvellous time.

Our Year 2, 3, 4 and 5s found out more about the Summer Reading Challenge on their recent visit to Shrewsbury Library. They made a lovely thank-you card for Katherine, the Library Development Manager, who talked to them about the Challenge. She also took them on a tour of the library to show them the stained glass window and other interesting historical features. We hope many of our pupils will take up the Challenge - there are medals and certificates waiting...!

Last week, we had Aaron Child back in school yet again, this time for a stop motion animation workshop with the Year 4s as part of their computing lessons with Mr Carroll. The children spent the morning thinking of ideas to put into their short film, they then worked hard and showed excellent patience whilst they filmed.

We love having Aaron in to work with the children and can’t wait to see the final product soon!
