Shrewsbury Half Marathon:

A group of our Key Stage 3 students successfully took part in the Shrewsbury half marathon. The students had been working on their fitness in school by completing a " daily mile" or 12 training sessions before the event and then they ran the final mile at the West Midland Showground . There were over 1600 pupils from different Shrewsbury schools in attendance at the event. Our students showed determination, courage and resilience to keep going " when the going got tough". Well done everyone who took part!

In one of our Foundation classes the pupils have been enjoying the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’. The children explored the different fruits from the story and independently cut up their own fruits. Some of the children acted out parts of the story, filling their basket with different fruits to surprise their friends.

Foundation Forest School:

In one of our Foundation classes the pupils have been thoroughly enjoying Forest School sessions and Outdoor Learning. It has been wonderful to observe pupils at Forest School playing, exploring and risk taking. Pupils have developed confidence and self-esteem through hands-on experiences in our on-site Forest School area.
The big playground is always popular and the pupils have been developing their physical skills by moving around, under and on different play equipment.

Futures Gallery Event - Colour Our World

An art exhibition that has a meaning…

‘The neurodiverse world is never black and white. Neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways, there is no one ‘right’ way of thinking, learning or behaving . Techniques that have been used like mono-printing, lino cutting and image transfer link to the idea of us all being individual , unique and full of colour’

Futures Students have spent the Spring term developing their drawing and painting skills which culminated in a beautiful and colourful gallery exhibition of their hard work entitled ’Colour Our World’. We had a great attendance from parents and carers and the students were so proud to exhibit their work to a very high standard. There was excitement in the air and it was a privilege for staff to see the students work being sold. It gave their work purpose and value - qualities that staff at Futures instil in our students every day.

There is still art work available for sale, please feel free to visit Futures and make a purchase if you would like to do so.

Key Stage 5: Wizard Of Oz Performance

Our Key Stage 5 students participated in a wonderful performance of the Wizard of Oz which took place just before the Easter holidays. The students worked on this throughout the Spring term and developed a range of skills in the process. Writing skills were developed through creating posters and tickets for the show, art and creativity skills were developed by making the scenery, and students built on their communication skills by learning lines to the songs. Alongside this, we also learnt about different job roles within the theatre industry.

A massive congratulations to the students on a fabulous performance which was enjoyed by all who attended!

Next Week: Attendance Week

Next week is our Attendance Week. Please take a look at what each of our departments will be doing throughout the week.

Severndale Academy Dance Troupe In London!!

On Friday 22nd March, a dance troupe from Severndale Academy travelled to London ready to join over 2,000 other pupils from across the country, to perform two dance routines at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 23rd March.

Pupils performed dance performances at the beginning and at half time of a rugby match between London Harlequins and Saracens. The pupils did an incredible job and represented Severndale in the best possible way, showcasing what our pupils can achieve. The match was thrilling and watched by over 61,000 spectators. Our pupils took the experience in their stride and loved every minute of it.

As part of the residential, pupils stayed in a hostel in London for two nights, where they developed their independence and functional living skills.

Go team Severndale!!
