We've had a wonderful week with a Halloween theme!
The children have enjoyed exploring pumpkins, and Halloween themed tuff trays. They have been cutting, sticking, painting and crafting. There has been dressing up, enjoying stories such as 'Room on the broom,' and much more!

We've been out and about again this week, popping into the local greengrocers to pick up some more fruit and vegetables ...

We've been out and about again this week, popping into the local greengrocers to pick up some more fruit and vegetables for the children to try at snack time. This time the children chose pears and cucumber.
We also stopped by the local pharmacy and bought some new hair accessories for our hairdressing dolls.

Yesterday the children enjoyed a walk to the library. The enjoyed looking at all the autumn displays in the shop windows on route and stopped off at the greengrocers on the way home to select some fruit and vegetables to try .

Back at nursery the children had a go at peeling their own oranges and talked about what they observed as the other fruit and vegetables were cut up. They talked about what they smelt like and how they tasted.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all the families that contributed to our harvest collection for the Shoreham and Adur community food bank this week.
The children helped us to deliver the items at our local drop off point, and we enjoyed seeing the beauty of our local church, and had a lovely autumn walk at the same time.

This week's theme has been colours and shapes, and the activities on offer have been providing lots of opportunities to extend and consolidate children's knowledge in these areas.

We took advantage of the rather gloomy weather on Friday and set up a light exploration area, with lots of sensory light exploration resources. The children talked about colours, used descriptive language such as 'bright', 'dark', flashing', and observed the effect of shadows.

This week the children have been learning about shape through activities available throughout the week and during group times.

We have been learning about looking after our environment and the children have enjoyed helping the adults clear up the leaves in the garden with the children's rakes, whilst another group took litter pickers out to clear up the grounds around the nursery.

We have also enjoyed lots of time out in the garden with fishing games, bubbles, the construction work bench, pasta play and of course the big bikes! 🦋☀️🦋

It's our first week back of the Autumn term and we've enjoyed catching up with old friends and making new ones 🙂

Thank you to everyone that came to our Sports Day and leavers ceremony today. I think it is safe to say that everyone had a wonderful time!
The Early Explorers team would like to say a massive thank you for all the lovely cards and gifts we have received.
We hope everyone has a wonderful Summer break.
Sending our best wishes to all our school leavers, we will miss them all, and hope they have an incredible time at 'big' school!
