Over the last few weeks, we have been busy throughout school with eco events and activities. As well as our fantastic Swissperiences, we celebrated World Oceans Day last week. We have kicked off beach school this week with yr6 going first.
Our school has also earned our Planet Protector Silver Award for all the great things we have been doing and continue to do to protect and improve our environment. All the glues stick and pen recycling really does help as well as improving our outside environment. Thank you to all children, parents and carers

This week, year 4 have been using their bodies as props to create different shapes (including trees and cars). They then added props to the dance skills they have been learning, including balancing props and limb extensions such as ribbons.

🌊☀️ Year 6 Wild Beach Session ☀️🌊

What an amazing day by the sea! From beach games and team challenges to exploring nature and making memories with friends, our Year 6 wild beach session was full of adventure, laughter, and learning. 🐚🌿

✨ Year 6 Mixed Media Exploration ✨

Year 6 have been diving into the world of mixed media this term, beginning with a study of the incredible collage artist Romare Bearden and his bold, expressive compositions.

This week, they’ve taken their creativity further by experimenting with Brusho, trialling a range of techniques to explore colour, texture, and atmosphere. The focus was on creating a magical mood inspired by *A Midsummer Night’s Dream*, developing rich, dreamlike backgrounds ready for their next stage of work.

The results are vibrant, expressive, and full of imagination — a wonderful celebration of experimentation and artistic risk-taking. 🌙🎨

Dance: 1970’s. The children in year 5 have been learning The Grapevine, Moonwalk and the Disco Strut. We talked about iconic singers and groups including David Bowie, ABBA, Michael Jackson, Bee Gees and Pink Floyd.

Year 5 have started their new Science topic, they dissected flowering plants to see the reproductive parts. They sketched and correctly labelled them.

🐾📚 Reading with Dazee has been a huge hit with our young readers!

The children have absolutely loved their sessions with Dazee, our wonderful reading dog. Spending time reading aloud in a calm, supportive and non-judgemental environment has helped build confidence, improve reading skills and, most importantly, make reading enjoyable.

There have been plenty of smiles, wagging tails and special moments as children shared their favourite stories with Dazee. It’s been wonderful to see reluctant readers grow in confidence and enthusiastic readers become even more excited about books.

A big thank you to Dazee for being such a patient and attentive listener! We can’t wait for the next reading sessions. 🐶❤️📖

Lenton class had our Swissperience this week. We had a lovely afternoon but the time went so quickly. We added to our school bug hotel, made bracelets from natural materials and planted some new plants at the front of the school.
