“Not as qualified… not as safe… lesser?” 😞
Today I read a comment today that truly stung!…
It said, “I would never use a childminder. They’re not as educated, qualified or safe as a nursery. I wouldn’t put my child at risk and neither should you.”
It broke my heart. Not just for me, but for every dedicated, highly qualified, experienced and passionate childminder who pours their soul into their work every single day. 💔
Here’s what I wish more people knew:
Childminders are not “less than.”
We are educators, caregivers and professionals.
We are trained, qualified and often go above and beyond the minimum requirements because we care deeply about doing this well.
Our homes become hubs of rich learning and nurturing connection.
We know every child deeply and tailor learning to each individual child.
We build bonds that last a lifetime.
We wear all the hats — planning, teaching, safeguarding, paperwork, CPD — often alone, but always with care and commitment.
We don’t just keep children safe — we help them flourish.
We create spaces where they feel loved, seen and truly known. 🫶🏻
This is why matters…
It’s time to shift the narrative!
To celebrate the outstanding, professional, heart-led work of childminders across the country.
To remind the world that quality care doesn’t depend on the size of a building — it depends on the depth of the relationships and the passion of the people within it!
I am proud to be a childminder.
I am proud to champion quality early education.
I am proud to be part of a community that lifts each other up.
And I’ll never stop shouting loud and proud about the power and importance of childminding.
We are not lesser.
We are more than enough. 🌈🫶🏻❤️
