Transitions, changes, big feelings, fingers deeply rooted in the ground, feeling damp soil crumble and mark our skin, breathing deeply, taking risks, playing in the dark, arthritic knees clambering in the willow tunnel, trying something simply for the sake of trying, laughing, hand holding, giving, receiving care and love, sitting quietly in moments of Awe, foraging and tasting, munching, giggling, and growing.

These past couple of weeks have felt kind of raw- the kind of raw that also feels so real and honest. The kind of raw that reminds us how much joy, love and also pain, suffering we‘re capable of causing as human beings.

Maybe we could all start asking ourselves more „what would love do?“ and try and follow that a bit. Wouldn’t that make for an interesting world.

A week of collecting rainbow leaves and filling eggboxes of natural treasures, foraging and roasting hazelnuts, fireside chats about our impact on the environment, fair share principles, toasted sugared apple juices dribbling down chins, adults rejoicing in their moments of awe and wonder, so much play, absolute joy and warm hearts seeing squishy hands pluck apples from an orchard that our community planted 2 years ago, imagining the stories these trees will be telling in years to come, coming together to celebrate autumn equinox, cradling conkers, making creepie/ milking stools, the start of the 2nd ConnectEd cohort and then wrapping the week up by attending the forest school conference 2026 Walesby Forest
A weekend filled with inspiration, food for thought, play and wonderful people!

Septembering…

Harvesting, tasting, finger tips covered in soil, looking after the garden, fixing, topping up the pond, learning and reflecting on our environmental impact on the land, each other and life as a whole, berry picking, sharing out, planting hope for next spring, experimenting and crafting, making new friends, seeing old friends, celebrating, carving and woodworking, spending time together in our happy place. Also, triple decker marshmallow!!!

Well dear summer, it’s been a busy one, a worryingly dry and hot one again and also one with countless wonderful memories made, giggles and laughter filling the air, fingers gripping tightly around high up branches, being birds with raspberry juice dribbling down our chins. A summer post to follow with more reflections.

In the meantime however we‘d like to share that there are only a couple of spaces left for the next ConnectEd cohort which starts at the end of September. Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns about the project and obviously please share with anyone you think might benefit. We do operate a waiting list for this project so please note that places are only confirmed once we get back in touch with you.

🐸 For those who have reached out in the past about our 8 week ConnectEd project 🐸

The next cohort starts at the end of September and will run into November. We are working our way through the waiting list and have emailed the next group of participants. PLEASE check your inbox and junk folders. If you have not already confirmed your place by email, your spot will be passed onto the next family on the list. PLEASE ACCEPT (or cancel!) YOUR PLACE ASAP (deadline this Thursday August 27th).

Referral forms remain open and automatically put you on our waiting list. We plan on running these projects several times a year.

What does holiday club mean to you? What do you look for in a club?

To me it means freedom- the freedom to “just be” at the end of a busy term; the freedom to make friends without judgement; the freedom to be creative, not worrying about the end result; the freedom to give it a go even if it goes wrong.

It is impossible to sum up all of the amazing experiences, friendships, tastes and magical moments that happened in just 2 weeks of holiday club but it’s fair to say WE HAD A BLAST! - Jess 🐸

A little follow up note and confession from Kendra-
Keeping on top of social media over the summer holidays proved to be that one ball too many in the usual holiday juggle.

Last December the Wildside celebrated a winter market where our community came out in the pouring cold rain and wind, sang carols, danced and laughed and most of all celebrated one another. It was so incredibly humbling seeing how many of you had spent the autumn making chutnies, jams, gins and other wonderful baked goods, as well as sharing your art and craft- all in an effort to raise money in order to offer free and subsidized places for our summer holiday club!

So here is a huge thank you to each and every one of you because folks, you made this happen! Thank you!!!

Also, the Wildside turned 5 this month! Woop! Maybe we can celebrate together over another winter fest ‘26? 😁

Thank you for being here and we sincerely hope you’re all finding moments to breathe, play and enjoy your summer! 🌿
