Lessons in the garden.

I finally deleted my Spotify account after much deliberation. What I've found is that my listening time has actually been richer rather than poorer. I'm actually excited about what I''m going to listen to this month. I choose carefully then I buy it ( instead of paying Spotify ) and then I listen to it.

Then I listen to it again.

I've got deeply into some beautiful music this month. Here is some of it - bought on Bandcamp. If you don't know about it, Bandcamp is a great site for independent artists and the artists get most of the money.

Work Money Death - Groovy, trancey African jazz, party music
The Flying Hats - Extremely positive, even by Reggae's standards.
Fergus McReadie - Reinventions of Scottish folk music filled with wind, rain and waves crashing.

I'd like to take moment to celebrate Jonny's success. He's just passed his LCME Grade 8 acoustic guitar exam with a Distinction!

It's a great achievement. He's a lovely player.

It's a privilege to make my living out of teaching and playing. And everyone plays differently here.

I'm trying to give up Spotify . It's a terrible deal for musicians. It also has other problems too.

Anyway. I recently bought this and listened to it. I think it's really special. For me it redefines a vocal/guitar duet. Tom is such a remarkable guitarist and is one of my favourites at the moment.

Have a listen to the first track and perhaps even buy it. It was about the price of a pint.
