Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) (21/10/24)

I didn’t realise that a dip in the rooftops allowed me to see the comet from the front of my house now that it’s higher. And I wasn’t prepared for it being clear either. So I hurriedly took 40 x 1.3s untracked shots (too long) at 500mm with my camera and lens. ISO f/5.6 @ 6400. Very quickly processed to deal with light pollution in APP. DON’T zoom in, there’s obvious star trailing and walking noise but hey, I saw it from my house

Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)

With tonight being the only half decent night cloudwise there's been for ages, I decided to have another attempt at seeing this comet. I went out to the mosses near me where the western skyline was suitable.

Unfortunately I was still dogged by clouds which, although not particularly heavy, were right in front of the comet from my viewpoint! It was very hard to locate it because of this and, when I finally did, I only had seconds to take a photo before it was covered again.

So this is all I managed and it wasn't worth spending too much time processing the image. At least I can say that I finally saw it as I won't be around in another 80,000 years!
