A wonderful day was had yesterday as Sherborne Prep kicked started the inaugural Turing Conference, welcoming 300 children from Hanford Prep, Sherborne Abbey CE Primary, Bradford Abbas CE Primary, Thornford CE Primary, Sherborne Primary and Bishops Caundle CE Primary.

Explorer Benedict Allen opened the day, thrilling the pupils with stories of his near-death encounters with vampire bats, crocodiles, thieves and poisonous snakes as he walked 3,600 miles across the Amazon Basin.

The Year 6 pupils then enjoyed an action packed day of workshops, enjoying hands on experience of everything from Coding and Cryptography, STEM challenges, Entrepreneurship, Robotics and AI with Thales to Art and Creative Design, all inspired by Alan Turing’s legacy 🧮🧪🤖🎨.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for making the day such an inspiring one ⭐.

We couldn’t be prouder of our wonderful U11 girls hockey team who competed in the Regional IAPS at Bryanston on Friday. They finished Runners Up, out of 20 schools. The final match came down to penalty shuffles where they lost 3-4, just missing out on becoming Regional Champions, but securing their place at the IAPS National Championships at Repton School on the 20th November.

Well done to Isla, Brontë, Alice, Mali, India, Sofia, Aoife, Olivia and Pippa, what a team! 👏 🏑

Next stop the Nationals ⭐️…

A team of Year 7 & 8 students had a fantastic afternoon at Canford School earlier in the week, taking part in their Geography Quiz 🌎.

The students thoroughly enjoyed putting their geographical knowledge to the test, tackling a range of challenging question rounds and working together to solve problems. It was a great opportunity to celebrate their enthusiasm for geography, and we are very proud of the effort, teamwork and determination they showed throughout the event 👏 .
