Alan Turing Bust Unveiling

At the end of term a stunning bronze bust of Alan Turing was unveiled in the grounds of Sherborne School.

This stunning piece of work was commissioned by former Sherborne resident Mrs Kathryn Ballisat, and created by internationally acclaimed sculptor David Williams-Ellis. The unveiling was conducted by Alan’s nephew, Sir Dermot Turing, and timed to coincide with the release of the new £50 note bearing Turing’s likeness. We are rightly proud of Alan Turing and delighted that he is now commemorated by such a wonderful work of art situated in the School grounds.

Next week, 13 young Sherborne leavers will begin calling Old Shirburnians, parents and Sherborne International Alumni for this year's Telephone Campaign. They are looking forward to sharing their experiences of Sherborne as it is now, and hearing from those they speak with about their time here. They will also be discussing plans for the redevelopment of Sherborne's Sports Centre. We hope everyone enjoys their calls!
