Fantastic to see so many young musicians today for our Prep Schools' Orchestral Day 🎻🎺🪈🥁

The focus and commitment the pupils maintained throughout the day resulted in a spectacular final concert to an audience of parents and staff, so bravo to all💐👏

Special thanks also to all the staff who have promoted and taught music in these schools, and accompanied their pupils today. This event definitely wouldn't be possible without you!

Today, we were delighted to welcome flautist Katherine Bryan to SG for a masterclass and recital 🎼🪈

Katherine offered a varied programme of Romantic and modern repertoire, from Poulenc to Mel Bonis.

Katherine, thank you for the advice and inspiration you have given to our flute students, and for a performance that was both technically outstanding and a pleasure to watch 💐👏

Yesterday, our GCSE Music pupils enjoyed a trip to London's Apollo Victoria Theatre to watch Wicked 💚🩷🪄

Aside from being a great day out, this gave them the opportunity to hear one of their set works performed live in its original context, and learn up close how composers write for the stage.

Last Friday, in addition to our lunchtime concert, it was the teachers' turn to perform 🎻🎺🎹

Departmental staff and VMTs gave an exciting programme featuring music from the melancholy of the theme from Schindler's List to the exuberance of Richard Rodney Bennett, with much more besides.

It was a special treat also to hear our new organist in action, with an improvisation on some well-known songs!

Thank you to our performers, and to everyone who came. We hope you feel inspired ✨

If you missed it, we have two further Friday evening concerts this half-term - more info via the link in our bio.

Yesterday we hosted our first lunchtime concert of the year 🎼🎹🎶

Here are some photos of our talented musicians in action - with representatives of every house, including some familiar and some less familiar faces.

We heard confident and expressive performances from everyone, with music from Vivaldi, Schumann, Fauré, Tesori, Tárrega and Kawanagh. Well done everyone 🎉💐

Details of our next lunchtime concerts can be found in our bio! If you missed this one, hope to see you there.
