On Tuesday evening, we had our Performing Arts dinner in the Gransden Hall 🎭🎼🩰

This annual event is an opportunity for students involved in Music, Drama and Dance, their parents, and staff to celebrate the end of the school year in style.

After an inspiring speech from Mr Cracknell on the importance of music in education for its own sake, it was time to announce the evening's prizewinners!

Congratulations to Betsy, Sophie, Lizzie, Rosie, Amor, Honor and Coco on your music awards, and to everyone else who received performing arts prizes πŸ’

The food was delicious, the company was fabulous, and the whole evening was a success! Thank you to everyone involved in organising and running it ❀️

πŸ“£School Organist and Accompanist RoleπŸ“£

✨ Do you play the organ to a high level?
✨ Do you enjoy working with young people on concerts, recitals, services and exams?
✨ Do you want to play in a range of venues from Sherborne's own abbey to cathedrals around the country?

Sherborne Girls is looking for a new School Organist from the start of the 2026/27 school year. If you answered yes to any of the questions above, this could be for you!

From the job overview:

'Music is a central and much-loved part of life at Sherborne Girls, with a long-standing reputation for excellence and a busy, varied programme across all styles. Based in the purpose-built Merritt Centre, with the impressive Gransden Hall at its heart, the department offers outstanding facilities and a wide range of performance opportunities, from concerts and productions to services held in Sherborne Abbey and major cathedrals.

'We are looking for an accomplished and enthusiastic Organist and Choral Accompanist to join this lively department. The role will involve regular organ playing for school services, accompanying choirs in rehearsals and performances, and supporting a full calendar of musical activity. Working closely with a dedicated and experienced team, the successful candidate will play a key part in shaping the musical experience of pupils and contributing to the wider life of the school and the Sherborne Schools Group.'

Introducing two more of our Sixth Form who have received exciting news!

Jenny (L6) will be spending two weeks in the US over the summer, taking part in the Philadelphia International Music Festival's auditioned Symphony Orchestra senior programme.

Matilda (U6) will be leaving us next year to read Modern and Medieval Languages at Churchill College, Cambridge, and has secured a choral award to sing in the college's Inter Alios choir.

Congratulations, and good luck to you both πŸŽ‰πŸ’πŸ€
