A huge thank you to Miss Wood and our fantastic PTFA for all their hard work in organising and supporting the events over the past two weeks.

From Sports Week activities to the rearranged Colour Run and Sports Day, so much time and effort went into making each event enjoyable for the children. These opportunities simply wouldn't happen without the dedication of our staff, volunteers and PTFA members.

Thank you to everyone who helped behind the scenes, gave up their time and supported these events. The children have had a brilliant time, made lots of happy memories and had the chance to try new activities – something we're incredibly grateful for.

🌈🎉 What a colourful day! 🎉🌈

Our PTFA Colour Run was a huge success, with lots of smiles, laughter and plenty of colourful fun!

The children had an amazing time racing through clouds of colour and making fantastic memories together. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event, whether by cheering, volunteering or sponsoring our runners – we couldn't have done it without you!

What a fantastic day our children have had taking on the climbing wall as part of Sports Week! It has been wonderful to see so many pupils challenging themselves, showing determination, encouraging one another and celebrating their achievements as they reached the top.

A huge thank you to our amazing PTFA St Andrew's Yetminster, who very kindly funded the climbing wall. We are so grateful for their continued support in providing our children with such exciting experiences and creating lasting memories.

A couple of important reminders:

Sports Day has now been rescheduled to Thursday 16th. Parents and carers are warmly invited to join us from 12:00pm for our picnic lunch before the sporting events begin.

Please remember to purchase your child's safety glasses via Arbor, under the 'Trips' section, before the event.

We can't wait for another fantastic couple of days to round off an amazing Sports Week!

Southcoast Adventure

As part of our Sports Week, we were delighted to welcome the RNLI to St Andrew's for an engaging and informative water safety workshop yesterday.

The children learned lots of important information about staying safe in and around water, and they loved getting hands-on by trying on some of the RNLI's specialist equipment and clothing.

The RNLI team commented on how wonderfully our children listened throughout the sessions. They were also incredibly impressed by the thoughtful, insightful questions our pupils asked, demonstrating both their curiosity and their enthusiasm for learning.

A huge thank you to the RNLI for taking the time to visit us and share such valuable life-saving knowledge.

Today, we were thrilled to welcome Tom James, former St Andrew's pupil and now a professional rugby player, back to school!

Tom began the morning by speaking to the whole school about his journey from being a pupil at St Andrew's to achieving his dream of playing professional rugby.

Tom demonstrated some incredible rugby skills, showing the children just how far he can kick and throw a rugby ball! There were plenty of "wows" from the children, who loved watching the demonstrations and getting involved.

A huge thank you to Tom for giving up his time to inspire our pupils, and to our wonderful PTFA for helping to make opportunities like this possible as part of our Sports Week.

Yesterday we welcomed Georgina and Olena from Dorset Libraries, who launched the Summer Reading Challenge 2026 – Read to the Beat! with a brilliant assembly for our pupils.

The free challenge starts Saturday 4 July and encourages children to read over the summer, collect stickers, and earn a medal and certificate for completing the challenge.

Due to building works at Sherborne Library, a pop-up library will be available at The Sherborne on Newland throughout July

We are looking forward to an exciting Sports Week next week, with lots of opportunities for the children to get active, challenge themselves and have fun.

We are aware that temperatures are forecast to rise again next week, and we will be monitoring the weather closely throughout the week. Where necessary, we will adjust timings and activities to help keep everyone as safe and comfortable as possible. Please ensure your child comes to school each day with a named water bottle, a sun hat and wearing sun cream.

Our Year 6 residential begins!

Today, our Year 6 pupils set off for their residential at Mill on the Brue, ready for a fun-filled few days of outdoor adventures, exciting challenges, and unforgettable memories with their friends.

We know they'll embrace every opportunity, show great teamwork, courage, and resilience, and have an amazing time along the way.
