🌞Summer Closure🌞

Tomorrow (Friday 28th) and Monday (31st) we will be closed for our Summer Break. We look forward to seeing you all for the beginning of the Autumn term. All year round children from 1st September, and Term time only children from 7th September.

🦗 Grasshopper Stay & Play 🦗

Thank you to all the parents who attended the Stay and Play session this morning. For some of you who have children starting school next month, this was the final opportunity to attend a Stay & Play here at Pear Tree, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to join us today. We hope you all enjoyed your time with us.

Children don’t need perfect adults. They need adults who help them feel safe, loved, heard, understood and included.

A child who feels listened to is more likely to speak up.
A child who feels they matter is more likely to believe in themselves.
A child with clear, kind boundaries learns that care and limits can exist together.

Behaviour is often communication. Behind the anger, silence, withdrawal or “acting out” may be a child asking: “Do I belong here? Am I safe? Does anyone understand me?”

Every child deserves to feel seen—not just when they are easy to manage, but especially when they are struggling.

🌖Solar Eclipse🌖
Tonight in the UK, we will experience a total solar eclipse! This is when the Moon slides directly in front of the Sun, blots it out, and for a few magical minutes the daytime sky turns deep blue, stars come out, and the Sun's pearly white corona shines around the black disc of the Moon.
Today the children have made their own pinhole projectors to take home so that they can view the eclipse safely. Space is always a favourite topic for lots of our children, so they have really enjoyed learning about this in today's circle time.
👁️How to use the projectors:
Stand with the sun directly behind you. Look through the open hole - you'll see the light pass through the pinhole and project a sharp image of the eclipse onto the white paper inside!
This won't been seen again in the UK until 2090, when our nursery children will be in their late 60's!
We can't wait to hear about their solar eclipse adventures tomorrow!

⭐️ Little Steps to Big School ⭐️

Last week, our 'Little Learners and Leaders' program concluded with a successful session featuring the wonderful Year 6 students from Sherborne Primary School. The children engaged in a fun-filled afternoon of parachute games, showcasing their leadership and creativity. We began by placing balls and beanbags on the parachute, which the children then shook vigorously to dislodge. One student from Sherborne Primary School proposed a timed challenge, where the group aimed to remove all beanbags within a 5-second timeframe. The older students suggested additional games, while the younger participants enthusiastically joined in on the 'washing machine' activity, running and sitting under the parachute.

Lots of fun was had by all, whilst supporting both the younger children's transitions to primary school and boosting the confidence of the Year 6 children who will be transitioning to secondary school in September.

At Pear Tree Nursery & Preschool, we believe that strong partnerships with parents are at the heart of supporting every child's learning and development.

Introducing our Home Support Library, bags containing a range of information, guidance and resources for families to access and take away. In response to areas where our families have needed some extra help, we have so far covered topics such as Medical Appointments, Potty Training and Moving House and are currently developing bags for New Siblings and Managing Feelings.

By working together and sharing knowledge, we can create the very best outcomes for our children and ensure families feel informed, supported and involved throughout their child's journey with us.

We are always here to answer any questions, offer guidance and work alongside our wonderful families.

We continue to support our children who are starting school in September with daily targeted school leaver sessions. This week the children had so much fun practicing wiping their bottoms! They used two balloons taped to the back of a chair, picked up a tissue then reached around to wipe between the balloons. There was a lot of laughter and some essential skills learnt at the same time! Well done School Leavers!
